Blunted 2 Posted May 28, 2006 CID Share Posted May 28, 2006 maybe a few more files to try but i just wanna see something. try this file and post the results and statistics back from this site again( http://miranda.ctd.anl.gov:7123/ ) and i should know a file that might make it better and we can do some more testing at different sites to see if you can download at that speed from anywhere but distance might be limiting your speed to here. we'll see
NexusOne Posted May 28, 2006 Author CID Share Posted May 28, 2006 Ya know whats odd... I have tried lots of different speed tests and none show that I'm getting my full speed. But when I jump on the newsgroup to get um educational material it shows i'm downloading at 1300KB/sec.... I think the distance thing might be whats throwing off the speed tests. VanBuren Posted May 28, 2006 CID Share Posted May 28, 2006 the problem is not the TCP settings, cos its almost the same result with every file you use. So that makes me think there is a problem with your modem or NIC. also try this 12MB testfile http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php?ni=1&tt=1&s=12160&st=st&ta=&top= try this aswell start-cmd-pathping testmy.net wait several minutes and do not use the connection before the test is done. VanBuren Posted May 28, 2006 CID Share Posted May 28, 2006 i dont think the ping package drop has something to do with your speed issue, cos if you drop 69% of your TCP packages aswell, then your speed would be like Dial up hehe The modem you have handle the speed, but it might need a new firmware try this unplug power to your modem, leave the modem unplugged for atleast 3 Minutes then start it up again check speed again VanBuren
NexusOne Posted May 28, 2006 Author CID Share Posted May 28, 2006 Ok, I shut the modem off for a few minutes (heh watching a movie, almost forgot to turn it back on) and it's back on. I logged into the modem and verified that it was still recieving the 10Mb/1Mb config file from charter. I'm getting the same results though...
