amish Posted May 28, 2006 CID Share Posted May 28, 2006 I just got the t-mobile full internet stuff, with an mda. And it's connected via usb as a modem to my laptop, they said it should do atleast 480Kbps on the edge network. But I only get 90-150Kbps. And I checked t-mobile to see if the edge network is available here. Does anyone know how to get it to work better? the access point is set as wap.voicestream.com (that's what the store put it as)
Swimmer Posted May 29, 2006 CID Share Posted May 29, 2006 Here is what I have read around... most people get between 90kbps-250ish.. Now from the people that have the higher end.. they are using a PCMCIA card for their laptops.. this is the one that tmobile is currently offering.. http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Detail.aspx?device=e84f500d-8c20-4a82-9017-0c6bc3f4ad5a My guess would be that the phone processor isnt powerful enough to allow for high speed transfers from the phone then on to the USB.. 480mbps is going to be the theoretical throughput of the service.. no one is ever going to see it.. kinda like 802.11g is 54mbps.. no one ever gets 54mbps is it more likely to see mid 20s and low 30s..
