chipdurham Posted January 14, 2005 CID Share Posted January 14, 2005 I am new to this list. I have read many of the post on improving speeds. I recently upgraded from Chater 1.5 to 3 meg but am not getting the full 3 meg speed. I used Cablenut to try some tweaks and the best I have achieved for downloads is shown below. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 2603 Kbps about 2.6 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is:: 318 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 46 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 3.22 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=2SUDGHE5A I am getting better speed after the Cablenut tweaks; You can call me cheap, but since I am paying more for the 3 meg service I would like to hit 3 meg at least once. I connect through a linksys 802.11b and am running XP Pro with SP2. Should I just keep playing with Cablenut? I have emailed Charter Tech Support and they said they would re-task my modem. I powercycled the cable modem a few times and the speed did improve. I have deleted all temp files and cleared all caches. No TSR's that I know of. Any suggestions or additional tests to run? Thanks.
