mobbdeep1122 Posted September 4, 2006 CID Share Posted September 4, 2006 I upgraded my firmware this morning, all was well, then I made the mistake of doing a hard reset on my router. Since I've done that, it hasn't worked. I'm now directly connected to my modem so I can try to find help. The problem is, something is preventing me from receiving packets. I thought it was my firewall, so I uninstalled ZoneAlarm--nothing. I have it set to obtain an IP address automatically. I've tried releasing/renewing my IP. I really don't want to buy another router so hopefully someone can help me. Thanks.
Swimmer Posted September 5, 2006 CID Share Posted September 5, 2006 Resetting a router shouldnt kill it.. depending on what type of connection you have.. If it was DSL then it is possible.. if you require PPPoE.. If that is the case log onto the router gui and just re-set it up.. http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2210&p_created=1110937569&p_sid=wM_KoQgi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MTImcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0mcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlYXJjaF9ubCZwX3NjZl9sYW5nPTEmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1QUFBvRQ**&p_li=&p_topview=
mobbdeep1122 Posted September 5, 2006 Author CID Share Posted September 5, 2006 I'm on Comcast cable so I don't require a username/password. The main issue is I'm not receiving packets, I don't know if its a firewall preventing me or what--but I uninstalled ZoneAlarm just in case, but it hasn't helped. Everytime I try and connect to 192.168.1.1 it just times out.
