Nitro4WD Posted January 22, 2005 CID Share Posted January 22, 2005 Hey there! Could someone please help me! My virgin.net 512Kb/s account was activated this morning, and I've spent all day trying to ascertain why it's so slow... I've viewed the posts by Ca3le and VanBuren and followed the instructions within. Using CableNut I managed to bump the speed upto 300Kb/s using IE (after uninstalling Zone Alarm), now I'm using Opera and the speed has dropped back down. I know broadband isn't always consistent (traffic, lines, conditions etc), but I feel even 300Kb/s is taking the mickey, let alone 130Kb/s. I'm running a P4 2.66GHz, 256MB RAM, 60GB HDD. Speedtouch broadband modem running straight into an adsl filter with no extensions. I also have my standard phone plugged into the filter. All my drivers are up to date and everything apart from the connection is running smooth. I've previously had a 1Mb/s connection shared through an ethernet router, and that ran fine. Virgin are useless and have yet to reply to my (many) other emails about different subjects, so I'm not going to hold out for them much longer... Any help would be muchly appreciated!
