Buntz Posted March 21, 2007 CID Share Posted March 21, 2007 When doing a download test is there a way to get around powerboost so I can get my true download speed?

Blunted 2 Posted March 21, 2007 CID Share Posted March 21, 2007 i think it stops after 10 or 20 mb but you can try this test and see how it is. http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php?&st=st&tt=1&ta=1&top=000&out_src=20MB
Buntz Posted March 21, 2007 Author CID Share Posted March 21, 2007 Thanks for the reply. I just try it, but it a bad time of the day to do a speed test on the east coast. One time I got 9783 than 8721 than 6378.I will try again later. What I am trying to do is get a dual test so I can change my sig from two boxes to one box. Thanks again.
Swimmer Posted March 23, 2007 CID Share Posted March 23, 2007 Alright I looked up some of the tech stuff posted on the net about "SpeedBoost".. What it looks like they are doing is taking left over bandwidth and applying it to large file downloads... This boost lasts 1/4 to 1/2 of the total file size.. I am not sure how they are calculating this but that is what they are saying.. So the amount of boost depends on network load completly.. My guess is that you can not turn it off.. BTW it only applies to HTTP/FTP traffic not torrent or p2p
Buntz Posted March 23, 2007 Author CID Share Posted March 23, 2007 THANKS for taking the time to look into it for me. AS for it not working for torrent or p2p file it is Comcast we are talking about and they will screw you every chance they get.
