Swimmer Posted January 31, 2005 CID Share Posted January 31, 2005 This is the latest release from VIA for the Intel based systems. What makes this chipset so sweet is the fact that it will support both AGP and PCIe! Meaning that you could use your current graphic card, assuming that you have one , and then still have room to upgrade to the latest and greatest in the future.. The only other feature that I see really valuable would be dual support of DDR and DDRII meaning that you could again run the old stuff and then upgrade to the new.. The next step up is the PT 894.. All of the feature above are included except that you dont get the AGP support.. Instead you get a 16x PCIe port and a pair of 1x expansion ports.. Either of these boards, I think, are a must look at for anyone in the market for a new intel based system.. The offer plenty of options for upgrades and can allow you to build as your budget recovers... Extemetech
