slight noob need help with comcast

hey everyone i finaly made a namee

ive been reading this site for a few days now and i need some more help

so here my question: ok i have comcast cable motorola modem linksys  wrt54g and im NOT at this moment using wireless.

i am trying to speed up my connection as much as possible and i would like to hit the cap if anyway possible.

i would also like to know why my connection is faster when i hook up my router and also why is upload speed so slo and what upload speed helpme with?

hey  thesk8nmidget and welcome to the forum :)

the reason you go faster with router installed is, that the modem have a 10 Mbps port and when you connect your pc direct to modem and run your NIC in "auto", then win XP give you a RWIN of 17520

If you connect to a router, the WAN port remains at 10 Mbps ( to your modem ) and your LAN is 100Mbps, then win XP thinks you have a 100 Mbps connection and increase your RWIN to 65535

But if you have been tweaking RWIN, then it will be locked and dosent change.....

i used to be able to get an awesome connection when i bypassedmy router but it still pops up 100.0mbps when its plugged in but ere are y stats with the router still in line.

Download Speed is:: 454 KB/s

why is comcast soooo fricking slow with upload?

they seem to be woking now but the sp2 patch do i want it at 50 or 10?
