VanBuren Posted February 11, 2005 CID Share Posted February 11, 2005 hey everyone i finaly made a namee ive been reading this site for a few days now and i need some more help so here my question: ok i have Comcast cable motorola modem linksys wrt54g and im NOT at this moment using wireless. i am trying to speed up my connection as much as possible and i would like to hit the cap if anyway possible. i would also like to know why my connection is faster when i hook up my router and also why is upload speed so slo and what upload speed helpme with? hey thesk8nmidget and welcome to the forum the reason you go faster with router installed is, that the modem have a 10 Mbps port and when you connect your pc direct to modem and run your NIC in "auto", then win XP give you a RWIN of 17520 If you connect to a router, the WAN port remains at 10 Mbps ( to your modem ) and your LAN is 100Mbps, then win XP thinks you have a 100 Mbps connection and increase your RWIN to 65535 But if you have been tweaking RWIN, then it will be locked and dosent change..... anyways follow these steps and post again https://testmy.net/topic-2097 VanBuren
