Swimmer Posted February 12, 2005 CID Share Posted February 12, 2005 sounds like your computer might have a virus or a trojan... Have you done a spyware check lately?? if not download ad aware.. and that might take care of your problems.. Are you using IE as your browser?? Guest philp Posted February 12, 2005 CID Share Posted February 12, 2005 I am using IE6 and have all the latest patches and updates. I've done virus scans with NAV 2004 Pro and Trend Micro's online service. I have Ad-Aware and scan for spyware weekly. Can't find anything out of the ordinary. Thanks for the suggestions, though. Got anymore?
Guest philp Posted February 17, 2005 CID Share Posted February 17, 2005 Hate to bump this up, but I'd really appreciate any help or suggestions with this. Does anyone know if this is a Norton AV issue (as I suspect) or if there's something else going on?

Guest philp Posted April 17, 2005 CID Share Posted April 17, 2005 I know it's not considered good form to rehash a post this old, but I thought I'd share. My problem (well, okay, my computer's problem) was caused by Norton AV. More specifically, LiveUpdate. I recently uninstalled NAV and installed PC-Cillin but still had the error. Uninstalling NAV does not uninstall LiveUpdate, BTW. So it was still activating every 5 minutes and every time it did, the Visual C++ bulls**t would happen. Not a problem since uninstalling LiveUpdate, though.
