sthomas Posted February 20, 2005 CID Share Posted February 20, 2005 I recenlty pruchaed a new game WoW and am having frequent disconnections, I ran the test on this site and found that Im usually running at 50-60% of the normal comcast speed, while other comps. on the same router are running at over 100% of the average speed. Anyone have any tips or ideas to what could be wrong with my PC? Thanks in advance.
VanBuren Posted February 20, 2005 CID Share Posted February 20, 2005 hey sthomas and welcome to the forum Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. Open Internet Explorer and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure nothing there is checked. Connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depend on the ISP service unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL. If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot http://beam.to/spybotsd and Ad Aware http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download to remove any spyware. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one, AVG is great http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates. Download and run CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/ try that VanBuren
