stilfx Posted February 25, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 Sorry VAN... I meant to fill in the blank: DL'ed ___ and my speed went through the roof with: BroadbandOptimizer ... The app u linked me to. Looks like it worked. (see results above) BUTTTT - I'm having huge latency issues w/ my ISP... its not my box. Both my Mac and PC are experiencing a "click... wait... wait........ boommm tons of info" latency type problem. Normally I do not experience this! BUT WE RECENTLY had 2 large snowstorms (eastern PA) and Im thinking this might be the culprit? That is what lead me to your site. ------------------- Advertised Speed: up to 3.5m / 400k http://www.sectv.com/prod_inter.shtml which is just a partner for the true ISP http://www.ptd.net/ ------------------- The BroadbandOptimizer app provides me with 5 tweakable strings: net.inet.tcp.sendspace=65536 net.inet.tcp.recvspace=65536 kern.ipc.maxsockbuf=524288 net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0 net.inet.udp.recvspace=73728 I posted the accompanying readme here: The ReadMe File ------------------- I did notice that DSLreports said: Turn on Selective Acks (FAQ #578)
stilfx Posted February 25, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 25, 2005 OSX Tweak App Update! - - - - - - - - - RMAC - an OSX broadband tweaking GUI. I think I found a better GUI app (called RMAC) which does the same thing as Broadband Optimiser, except in the form of a GUI. A GUI is much more appealing than editing a text file! Article about the app: http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/7136 Download: the OSX app called RMAC Here are some screenshots I'll host: RMAC.jpg RMAC2.jpg RMAC3.jpg RMAC4.jpg Side Note from article: First of all, if you've run the Tweak Tester it likely advised you to turn on 'selective ACKs;' unfortunately selective ACKs are not supported by OS X.
