Annoyboy Posted March 1, 2005 CID Share Posted March 1, 2005 Hi, I've been trying various tweaks and patches etc from this site throughout the day, in an attempt to fix my terrible upload speed (14KB/s over AIM). However, nothing has helped. I've tried all of the things in the sticky but nothing seems to work for me. Here are my stats: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 554 Kbps about 0.6 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is:: 68 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Tue Mar 1 19:50:32 UTC 2005 Bottom Line:: 10X faster than 56K 1MB download in 15.06 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 53.73 % of your hosts average (co.uk) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-ELOYZ0916 :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 120 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Upload Speed is:: 15 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Tue Mar 1 19:53:56 UTC 2005 Bottom Line:: 2X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 68.27 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 73.62 % of your hosts average (co.uk) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-00XGI9UYC Could someone please help me to find out what the problem is? I'm using Windows XP with the SP2 patch, and my connection is a 128KB/s cable one running through an Ethernet port (no routers). Edit: Forgot to put in my tweak results URL: http://ttester.broadbandreports.com/tweak/block:1a469e?service=cable&speed=128&os=winXP&via=normal
VanBuren Posted March 1, 2005 CID Share Posted March 1, 2005 hey Annoyboy and welcome to the forum download and install cablenut https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=64 1st run this analyzer and find your MTU http://forums.speedguide.net:8117/ now build your own cablenut file https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1013.msg27520#msg27520 choose Enter MTU then type your advertised speed up and down in Kbps, use a latency between 150-300 ms i suggest to start with 150 increase if you still dosent get the speed you want now click compute settings, and click CCS file download save it anywere on your HD and click on it and click save to registry and reboot your pc if you get problems with connecting to FTP, p2p programs, then change SynAttackProtect to 0 and click save to registry and reboot VanBuren
Annoyboy Posted March 1, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 1, 2005 Thanks, but playing around with the number for the latency doesn't seem to have helped. I started off with 150, then tried 200, and finally 300 (what it's set to now). Here are my current results: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 616 Kbps about 0.6 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is:: 75 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Tue Mar 1 20:35:32 UTC 2005 Bottom Line:: 11X faster than 56K 1MB download in 13.65 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 58.67 % of your hosts average (co.uk) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-MHW6X0PBE :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 114 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 1013 KB) Upload Speed is:: 14 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Tue Mar 1 20:34:45 UTC 2005 Bottom Line:: 2X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 73.14 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 69.94 % of your hosts average (co.uk) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-V2IR8LB7G As you can see, it's only a slight improvement; I think there's a bigger problem here.
