Tito Posted March 9, 2005 CID Share Posted March 9, 2005 I'm a serious gamer and Adelphia has been giving me the run-around about my packetloss issue since late Jan. I wish I had time to sit around and wait for them, but I don't. It's imperative my packetloss is fixed by THIS Sunday. I downloaded cablenut by reference from a friend. Now I just need to know what numbers I should plug in. My test results: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 4297 Kbps about 4.3 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB) Download Speed is:: 525 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Wed Mar 9 02:56:57 EST 2005 Bottom Line:: 77X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.95 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 65.78 % faster than the average for host (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-PHZ0VXFIG :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 217 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB) Upload Speed is:: 26 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Wed Mar 9 03:01:09 EST 2005 Bottom Line:: 4X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 39.38 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 68.03 % of your hosts average (adelphia.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-34AVZW71O Last night my packetloss hit 10.2% in a certain game...Any help or advice you might have is much appreciated. -Tito

VanBuren Posted March 11, 2005 CID Share Posted March 11, 2005 quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml "Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. * Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection. * Right-click that icon and select Properties. * Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure. * Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front: * In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT. * In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or ( at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI. * Click OK to exit the Adapter settings. * Click OK to exit the Connection properties. Tito Posted March 11, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 11, 2005 After I did that yesterday I noticed absolutely no difference. If anything, it made things worse. That's why I've been waiting to find out the catch from you.

Tito Posted March 12, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 12, 2005 Like I said, my isp's been giving me the run-around for weeks. I only hoped there might be a temporary fix to at least bring my packetloss below 3%. I appreciate your efforts to help. -Tito
