VanBuren Posted March 13, 2005 CID Share Posted March 13, 2005 What is the mtu and is it bad that its at 1492 or what MTU = Maximum Transfer Unit MTU also limit MSS ( Maximum Segment Size ) and thats the amount of bytes in each packet your pc send/ receive MTU = MSS +40 ( 40byte overhead) a large MTU is always faster then a smaller one, cos you need less packets to transfer a certain amount of data However a diff between a MTU of 1492 and 1500 is almost none against low ping servers and low speed transfers VanBuren Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
