bp66 Posted May 17, 2005 CID Share Posted May 17, 2005 Are there any tweaks for Norton Internet Security 2004 that might help me get my speed and stay protected? With it turned off I get the rated speed or better on most download tests (5mbps) But with it turned on it fluctuates, depending on the test from ~2.8 to 4.1mbps. Heck it won't even finish the test on this site with it on. It seems obvious to me the computer can handle it without the software interference, but I can't find any info on how to possibly tweak NIS to let the FIOS do its thing. Running W2K on AMD @ 2.1GHz w/ 1G mem. if that helps. Thank you, BP66
VanBuren Posted May 17, 2005 CID Share Posted May 17, 2005 hey bp66 and welcome to the forum I use Norton Internet Security 2005 and works great, beside speedtesting on this site, so i just disable it during test, its not a big deal. the firewall dosent slowdown the real transferate EDIT: you need to restart your browser everytime you disable the firewall for speedtesting here from the uploadtest "Loading data to be uploaded... If you have a firewall online this may lag the loading, Symantec Client Security and Zone Alarm are known to have issues and need to be taken down... unless you like to wait This box will disappear once form data is loaded If this still takes what seems like too long for this box to disappear after shutting down firewalls and proxies, you may need to reboot your browser. In most cases if you wait it out the upload test will still perform accurately, but will take longer to perform." VanBuren
