chrism101 Posted July 26, 2005 CID Share Posted July 26, 2005 What are the the proper steps to just hook the centurytel(netopia cayman) DSL modem to the linksys router? it needs to be configured to just work as a wifi WAP? Ive had no luck so far trying to configure it. my Dlink on my satellite modem was a breeze but I haven t a clue to this linksys or this DSL PPOE crap. Can I disable the routing and just use it as a switch? All i need is to connect the Laptop wirelessly to the DSL. So all i need is a WAP, do i need routing? Swimmer Posted August 1, 2005 CID Share Posted August 1, 2005 ahh yes.. dsl with a router..you need to put the modem into bridge mode.. read this http://www.netopia.com/support/technotes/hardware/CQG_020.html then read this for the setup of the router http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2210&p_created=1110937569&p_sid=*2T_CTLh&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MSZwX3Byb2RzPTAmcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfc2NmX2xhbmc9MSZwX3BHz2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PWNlbnR1cnl0ZWw*&p_li=&p_topview=1 I would keep the routing function on just incase you ever need an extra ip address..
