resopalrabotnick Posted September 8, 2005 CID Share Posted September 8, 2005 those estimates are spot on. once you carry the box out of the store, you depreciate 50 percent right there. the other 50 percent go away over the next 2 to 3 years. these are not houses or used cars people, these are mass produced items in a market with an incredible innovation speed. the initial prices (bought new) need to be relatively high for the mfr to recoup their r&d investment. hence the high depriciation.
