  1. I bought a new wireless Linksys 54GS router and had a really hard time setting it up. Real bad cd software, not at all easy like the other one I had. I finally had to get customer support to figure it out. Their "quick start" guide is poor to say the least. I will say though after getting it finally set up and doing a couple things to my windows xp settings, it has gotten a lot better! Here's what my speed tested now: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 10809 Kbps about 10.8 Mbps (tested with 12288 kB) Download Speed is:: 1319 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2009/02/10 - 5:29pm Bottom Line:: 188X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 0.78 sec Tested from a 12288 kB file and took 9.313 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 70.14 % faster than the average for host (comcast.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-IDYRQJ67F User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; GTB5; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30) [!] I want to thank you guys for helping me with this!
  2. Thanks so much! Yep, was the router. I hadn't even thought of doing that. dah Now off to check on a newer router. Thanks again!
  3. Hello, I new here and had my pc tested and have pasted the results below: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 152 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 512 kB) Download Speed is:: 19 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2009/02/04 - 6:56pm Bottom Line:: 3X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 53.89 sec Tested from a 512 kB file and took 27.599 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 2.4 % of your hosts average (comcast.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-B7USCZOTF User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; GTB5; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) [!] I use a wireless laptop with a linksys wireless router hooked into the cable modem in another room. I do get a low and very weak link on my laptop. My router is about 7 to 8 years old but my card in the laptop is newer.(about a year old). I'm wondering if this is why my connection is not up to what it should be with using cable internet?? Maybe I need to get a newer router? Thanks to all who can help me.
