  1. I do have Norton and have found it to slow the test considerably, so I have been disabling it. However, the "hanging" problem still occurs, even when disabled. Seems like there's something that happens always right around 600 kB of the download.
  2. Thanks for the recommendation. I installed a Linksys LNE100TX today. Speeds are a bit better, and the "hanging" seems much improved, but it still does it occasionally, still at that same point (20% on 3 MB file, 10% on 6 MB file, etc.) Also, oddly, the other computer on my net (using a wireless connection, whereas mine is wired) still has higher speeds than mine! (older computer, older CPU, less RAM, etc.) Clearly, there is still some problem with my computer itself, or so it would seem. Could it be the cable from wireless router to PC? Any other thoughts? Still only getting about 3400 kbps, whereas I'm paying for 6000. (Other computer regularly hitting 4100) Thanks, again, for any help.
  3. Is that something I can address w/ driver or other software, or would I be better off with a new adapter card? Any suggestions for a good card? Thanks.
  4. Hello, All First post. I've read the sticky and made quite a bit of progress on my connection speed; however, I have an odd phenomenon which seems to occur when I run the speed test (download). When d/ling the 2296 kB file, my browser almost always "hangs" at exactly the same point in the process, about 20% on the progress bar. Occasionally, this does not happen and I get much better results (about 4Mbps vs. under 3). Additionally, the other computer on my wireless net never seems to do this, and generally has higher speeds. What caught my attention is the fact that this always seems to occur at almost the same point in the download. Disabling the progress bar doesn't seem to make any difference in as far as the inconsistencies. Thoughts on what could be causing this? Thanks for your help.
