  1. Ill try it ...thank again very much
  2. Oh my GOD I only have 1 year and 7 months to figure how to set my computer time forward an hour... and last but not least just another clock to have to screw with before I go to bed that night...isn't that just the US government for ya...always trying to make it harder on the working man
  3. my thought is then that even if the other CPUs are dormant that they are still consumming a certain amount of bandwith, is this correct?
  4. My signal strength is around 84....and I am connected to my modem through a 100mb router that is connected to the modem ... not through a host computer...I would not classify that as a shared connection, but I don't know much about this stuff. is that considered a shared connection??
  5. Thank you for all of your help...wish it could have helped... but here are the readings after optimizing With cablenut Ver. 7 MTU 1500...and so on :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 663 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Download Speed is:: 81 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Wed Aug 10 21:41:11 CDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 12X faster than 56K 1MB download in 12.64 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 86.89 % of your hosts average (direcpc.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-JITNZL2H7 as you can see still the same hehehehehe... but I am happy with the speed that I have now as compared to what I had before so that is what is important right? I would hope that DW does not have me capped at this rate but everyone would tend to believe so....whatever
  6. HM this banter isn't helping me much
  7. Sorry about that...here you go Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 652 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Download Speed is:: 80 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Wed Aug 10 18:30:21 CDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 12X faster than 56K 1MB download in 12.8 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 85.34 % of your hosts average (direcpc.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-HR4UJKEQ5
  8. I have installed my DW6000 (goodbye DW4000). My speeds on the previous client computers have greatly improved, partially because of eliminating a much slower host computer and partially because of a networking issue. However, my DL speeds are hovering around 700kbs/sec and I have seen consistent speeds of around 1000kbs/sec from other forum posts. I also understand that DW controls the speeds at a max of 1000kbs/sec with the DW6000, which is not a problem and beats dial-up speeds I have installed and run the cablenut program and have also run the TCP tweak...any other suggestions to speed my DL's?
  9. OK here goes... I have a dw4000 system and have been a subscriber for several years. Not as fast as cable but am glad that I do not have to use dial up. Lately my speeds have been slower than normal on my client computers but not on the host computer. I have the network running like it always has but my speeds on the two (2) client computers are terrible. My DL speeds on the host computer are ranging around 1.2-1.7 Mb/sec but the client computer speeds are running 200-300 Kb/sec, almost 80% less. My network consists of three (3) computers, all running XP. They are hardline connected via Cat5 through a 10/100 ethernet hub. Nothing has changed that I am aware of except for the super slow speeds on the client computers. I have tried to reset the networking perimeters but that has not helped the issue... I have upgraded the LAN card thinking that maybe the card was going bad in the host CPU, but that was not the issue... I was even thinking that it was a Cat5 problem but the slower speeds are too consistent on each client computer. I have placed an order for the DW6000...is this the wrong move? I know that it will simplify the networking issues, but will it create another spectrum of problems. I am aware of the FAP that is more controlled by the 6000 system but am not that concerned about reaching my limit. Is that the only real issue here with the DW6000 system...Thanks for any assistance that you can provide. Confused in Rural USA
