I have a static ip address and I am paying an extra $20.00 each month for. I am just wondering if this is an average price for this service? What do you pay for a static ip address?

The FTP server controls the amount of bandwidth that you are allowed. I set up a test FTP server to a DS3 connection to test a ADSL2+ connection between two central offices and was getting 15Mbps. The ADSL2+ line was set to 18Mbps down & 1.2Mbps up.

Actually 90% of this was purchased on ebay. I bought both switches for $120.00 and the FO NIC cards were about $10.00 each. Fiber is really inexpensive, a 30 meter cable runs about $25.00.

I'll post more pics later today.

Here are a few pics of the fiber optic network cards. The media convertor is being used between my router and switch as the uplink.

Here is my network map. The blue lines are cat5e and the orange lines are Multi mode fiber.

I have a fiber optic switch mounted in my rack(actually2 of them). Using MM fiber with ST-ST connectors from the switch to a fiber optic NIC in 3 different PC's .The switch is like a media convertor. I can extend my network up to 2km if I wanted to.You can't do that with ethernet. My whole home network was ethernet at one time. I decide to start running fiber to all of my computers about 7 or 8 months ago, I still have a few dark fibers in the attic to drop in the walls for the othe 2 PC's that are still on ethernet.
