Whatever this current level of humans is involved with, you'll smell the stench of corruption.

These cable companies advertise certains speeds; 2.0 mbps, for instance -- when they've capped it at 1.5 (meaning anything above 1.5 mbps is quite impossible) That includes maxbursts.

Whenever the opportunity arises, make your move. Uncapping to the maximum your service advertised, is perfectly justified.

It's no different, than if a car salesman sold you a car on the basis of it's fantastic horsepower and speed; but you find otherwise. It's closer to a Ford Taurus than a Corvette.

This isn't a court battle the cable company would win.

What's your take, cable? Caps or my tinkering?

Feb. - 4000 mbps

March 1 - March 17 - 1900 mbps

March 18 - 1400 mbps

Is this routine, for cable companies to gradually cap bandwidth?

Through experience, changing RWIN/MTU, has minimal impact. The changes seen, are barely noticeable. It's almost a waste of time.

It seems to me, that 'webrocket', 'internetbooster', etc.. all of these type programs, are stealing from an ignorant public.

It's even slower now. Down to less than 1.5 mbps -- for $40 a month.

When they know there's no competition in the area, they rob you.

I used the TCP Optimizer, and yes, failed to backup my registry. In addition, I modified 'All Network Adapters'. I was messing around with the RWIN / MTU, and everything else. (can't help myself)

Is it possible, that when I modified 'all network adapters', it somehow brought attention to my connection?

OK, here goes -- One week ago, I visited this site, and many others, testing my bandwidth. Now, since having used the SB5100 for the new digital line the cable company installed (for internet and cabletv) , I was getting 4000 Mbps on bandwidth tests -- highest being 4700; now, previous to the SB5100, I had a SB3100. I immediately experienced a two-fold increase in bandwidth with the SB5100

Then, on Sunday, it suddenly dropped to below 2000 Mbps. Coincidentally or not, this happened after I did some major, or minor, depending on your definition, tinkering.

My question to you is; was this decrease in bandwidth due to the cable company instituting their 2mbps caps (and they somehow noticed I was cruising at incredible speeds... sometimes experiencing 1MB bursts, when downloading) -- or, did I mess something up?
