I find that Firefox gives me a MUCH higer speed reading than IE. FF has me running over 70% faster than the average for Comcast cable, whereas IE has me running only at 90% of Comcast's average speed. So, what's the real speed? Beats me!

I did what you recommended: cleared the cache and restarted the browser. Now the results with or without the bar are pretty much the same: mostly in the high 3's.

Yep, 1 Ghz is what I have. Cannot compete with that Athlon 3000+!!! Actually my CPU works fine for the kind of things I use my computer...except, of course, the new schemes deviced by you guys. Heehee! Walter Bruinsma

But I have been testing without the bar...with the bar the results readings have gone way down...which makes me wonder: What is my real speed?

Actually, I DID run tests yesterday. Wonder why they are not showing. They were HIGH!!

My machine is 1 MGHZ with 512 MB RAM. I have had no problem testing until today.

I did try without the progress bar...and it upped my speed by a 1000! So, what does that say?

Until today, my Comcast Cable speed results, as tested on your site, were mostly either in the high 3's or low 4's. Now they are mainly in the mid 2's. Interestingly, other test sites still record my speed in either the high 3's or low 4's. It seems to me that testmy.net may have changed some aspects of its testing procedure(?), thereby producing lower result figures. What is does appear to say, however, is that most bandwidth testing is a VERY inaccurate method of measuring speed. Who knows what is really is? WBDUTCH
