i dont know why i didnt have a brainfart sooner but. i just hooked the pc right to the modem and its fine any one got any suggestions for a good bang for your buck router maybe one with built in wireless that dosent suck and is, well affordable?

it is an onboard nic im gona try drivers right now. i havent changhed any firewall settings nor do i have any additionsa firewalls. i already bought a new cat5 cable and ive tried different banks on the router all do the ame thing. the port thing though ill give it a shot next but for net issint it like port 80 and issint it suposta stay that way...or can i just change it with no problems?

well its simple from time to time this pc wigs out like right now looking at the bottom left task bar the lil ballon pops up and says a network cable is unpluged then it dissapears and then a sec later it comes back sumtimes even faster sumtimes slower and right now the net is fine runing smooth in a few minuts itl start up again. makes the internet extremely slow to use almost unbarable. ive got another pc and a laptop i hook up to the same linksys router im using behind a sb5101 motorolla surfboard modem comcast gave me, only this pc has the problem. xp home sp2 virus scaners spyware malware scanners come up with nothing ive completly checked everything in my net settings everything "semms" ok. no failed hardware i cant explane it its just wiered. i cant even explane how many times ive re-set the router and power cycled the modem. sumtimes (rare) it fixes it most times not. and now its doing it again..........

she finaly had sum 1 tell her that she does need a bettery for this unit. it was designed to prevent data loss if the ac adapted pluged in by it self were to fall out or w/e so she said she bought a batt and ,, i quote "power cord" on ebay for hopefully a dell lattitude cpi 7600 i belive it was. all for less than $50 hence the power cord was only like $17 i think im changing my number today and thank you all for your help.

i have in fact they found there $60 ps i found a "new" bat and ps for $86 called and offered to order it for them if they can reinburse. woulda came in a few days. thats when dealing with them became inprudent. I really dont think they want to give it back, i mean i powered it up, ran winamp and played sum music for em they know it works. i sold it localy on www.craigslist.com <-fast local sale btw sell your stuff here ppl! and im just waiting for there call.

turns out my working p.s. for the newer lattitude is not the absouloute correct but will work for the old 1. the old battery for the cpi isisnt the right battery for it lol, and thats why my newer lattitude p.s. only works when the corresponding battery is in. Or so i wa stold by a laptop tech freak at pc club here in town www.pcclub.com but the laptop will boot up with the right power supply for it, problem is the buyer got a wallmart 1 a universial adapter that probably has a dial adjustable voltage setting If they ask for there money back ill give it but even dealing with them has become inprudent. i said it needed new parts.

to make it short. recently i sold a dell lattitude cpi notebook localy and fully explained it needed a new battery and power supply. upon sale i verified the laptop did work with a battery and power supply from another similiar newer lattitude laptop i have and keep. sold for $40 pentium 2 with 128mb ram. i mean $40 is pathetic but used is as is. well the buyers all buthurt the laptop does not boot up unless it has a battery that can at least pass voltage. the orignal battery wont-? never knew why but it would always load up with a donor battery and p.s. and ran fine!!!! absoutly no errors!!!!!! the buyer has been advised by sum other "used pc dealers" that the mother board is fried on the unit. and the laptop should boot on just a ac power supply, when they tried to power it up with god knows what p.s. I have been advised by profassionals that many laptops do not have a system that allows it to run simply off the ac power supply. it requires there be a battery even if it cant hold a charge it should pass it. he also advised that the reason the "green light" didnt come on the power supply can be because the laptop i guess has a "circuit breaker of sorts" that if the voltage is not exactly what it needs it wont accept the signal thus no light is displayed, he also said the old battery can be corrupt and this is why it works with a different 1 but if the m.b. was fried the laptop wouldent work period. I thought i would ask the real profassionals before i come to any conclusions of weather the buyer really deserves there money back. despite as is, scenerio. Im a nice guy. thanks so much- dave

i did up cablenut today, no change at all my net is absoutley maxed @ 4.6 megs, funny thing is i remember subscribing,signing, and paying for 6-8. so i had a few old tweak programs but i been curious bout tweak xp or anything better.... but the story get even better, i cant crawl over 0.4 up. i am begening to think the pc is holding back, shes barely 3 weeks old. i have done everything.....no sucses except call the theivs....

well i moved to a new part of town where even the cable guy said "alota people around here got comcast" when he came to hook me up. i also built a semi nice pc kinda budget for now but....soon upgrades anyhow please u guys r the best i know it ive already done all the updates latest browsers, net framework etc etc. pc is 2 weeks old has NOT a spyware virus trojan nothing! got spybot,adaware,xclean,kaspersky n good firewals. m also behind a router but it costs me vituraly no speed, ive done intensive testing. when the cable guy first came over he starting runing like a comcast downloader app and he said i was moving 6 megs, 6 seconds later a guy says sumthing in jiberish over the walietakie and then he said "o so i didnt even need to run this" after the net was live he went to all kinds of test sites and i had a max average of 4.2 megs down, i looked through sum obvios setting optimizing for throughput got all the latest stuff and instaled kaspersky and testmy said i now had 4.4megs down. and now this has been my average all day :::.. do 1 need to instal xp first i mean the mb is not even rekognizing the sata drive? how would i go about intsaling sp2 ....or is the file ...oem in sp2?

well i went out and got a new pc budget style. got a gigabyte s sires am2 s2g 1 gig ddr2 case &powersupply and a amd sempron 2800 all of it for less than $370 ..for now plans are to hit it with a mean gpu and the fstest cpu it can handle soon..... the problem is i am trying to fire up this pc with windows home that does not have sp1 or 2 i have internet here at home on this laptop but no way to burn or transfer anything but a floppy. i have been told by a few people that for the os to reckgonize the sata drive it will need a driver home dosent have. now i cant transfer this file from the cd for the m.b. but i can take the file and copy it to a floppy and then prompt xp to load it with the f six key when starting to well start windows. now i wont lie i built the pc with the help of a neighbor who repairs printers mostly. go figure ..anyway he extracted the said driver(s) to the floppy and we tried to load the drivers in the raid options on xp and it wanted to but it then said Cannot find txtsetup.oem i then called the guy who sold me the goodies runs a small pc shop in a fiarly small part of town so small i will be working on his car tommorow in exchange for a filthy processor! or a viedo card who knows anyway he explained over the phone to simply take txtsetup.oem of the m.b. cd and copy it,, sumthing bout root directory,, and then the f six option. "number five six and seven dont work on this laptop funny huh" under later exmanation we found out the m.b. cd does not have txtsetup.oem this is whare were stuck, the pc guy "scott" said he would fix me all up tommorrow afternoon with, i think he said a copy of xp home with sp2 but to use my cd key for my xp home? ..i think anyhow seems more these days the net is the only reliable source for help anymore... i realllly apericiate any help on this kuz i wanna fire this pc up tonight!!!!

i would like to start with saying i know this technology is seriously outdated i know i just hope that help with the knowledge u pros might have on this stuff? well i got the radeon 256 9250 it dosent seem any better than the geforce 4 128mb cardthat was in there b4. the max it will let the agp run is 4x overclocking holds a wide spectrum though after sum fans were mounted on and around the cards heatsink. 166 to 219 on the memory clock 240 to 329 on the vpu clock give or take 10 points on each before everything gets glitchy. and the card remains lightly warm to the touch.
