  2. hey everybody its been a while since ive last posted but im proud to say that insight has made me happy for once, they upgraded at no extra fee to 10/1 service... tonight was the first time i actaully achieved these scores, im not sure if its because of the optimizer or what but here are the new scores compared to the 4/.5 that i used to get :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 10468 Kbps about 10.47 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1278 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 941 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 1496 kB) Upload Speed is:: 115 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/12/04 - 2:21am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-E9WXJCT40 U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-DHI92VWAL User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322) [!] pretty impressive for no extra cost. take care
  3. thanx for the advice. yea im gonna get something moving here, i mean i know they dont intend it to be this way but after me complaining so much ya would think they would fix it or payback or something.... i never thought about fighting my way up the food chain lol, maybe thats what i need, just refuse to talk to anybody that answers the phone, demand to speak to a superior... once again guys, thanx for all the help.
  4. that is one of the big problems here, they are over selling and under providing... im sure they can open enough throughput for our speeds to be @4mb, but im the only person i know that gets that, both my bros carry insight, my girlfrinds folks have it, my old neighbor had it, they just dont provide very well... and its because most users dont know about test pages like this or even care if they are getting the speeds they pay for, as long as its faster than dial up they will gladly pay the 49$ a month... im sure if i can get enough people to make a big stink about it, something will change... i know they are capable of getting us the bandwidth we need because they offer the premium 6mb/down and 512k/up in my area.... so if they are able to offer that to everybody in my area they can damn well give us the advertised speeds... sorry just venting here... have had nothing but problmes with these people, i used to call them i bet an average of 10 times a week for about 3 months, and they tell me that there is nothing wrong with anything... the guy comes out and does his own web testing on my computer gets the same results as i do and still nothing is fixed... wish i lived in a big city, could get verison fiber optics... any idea how well that works for internet gaming??? as compared to cable or dsl. thanx alot guys...
  5. looks like we are getting somewhere now, still not where it was or should be but its definitly getting better. any other ideas or files to try. thanx alot for taking the time to help me... one quick question, do ya know the address for the site that scans your computer for device drivers and gives a list of the ones you need to download, i was there a while back and lost that address as well. once again thanx alot :::.. 7. http://www.insight-com.com/broadbandplus.asp when you scroll down i have just the plain insight broadband 4mb down/384k upload i ran a test without any settings got 1.5mb down used the 4000/384 on cable nut and the speeds vary from 1.0-2.0
  8. is there something im doing wrong fellas... as of a week ago i would get about 4000kbps, now im lucky to get 2000kbps.... should i use the cablenut file that is closest to my advertised speed or what??? i really can not remember which one i used but it was definitly working better than whatever i have now... any ideas on the cablenut program or any other options i should try to get my speed back? thanx alot guys, you all are great.
  9. hi guys i have had no problems of late, but i did reboot my system and i cant find the file i need for teh cablenut program.. can somebody please advise me on which one i need... i have insight broadband connection, just the regular service, not the premium... my usual readings on the site were at 3.8-3.9... now they are about ameg slower... please help. thanx alot fellas
  10. on socom2 lots of people are using things that are called lag switch.. look like this http://www.lagswitch.com/ any ideas on how they work, because i know in the game if you disconnect your ethernet cable you get disconnected, i guess we all just freeze and they can move around and kill us,,,, any idea how to make one, i could buy one but i dont really want one, i just want to have one to maybe use if others are using them, any help would be apprecieated. thanx
  11. hmmm well i guess my router ias a built in switch, i have the linksys BEFSR41... and im not having any problems with ports or anything so buying just a switch prolly wont help me any,,,, sorry guys, didnt know this one has a switch, wouldnt have waisted your time if i knew that
  12. so would it be a good idea to run this for my ps2 or do you think it will not help any? also if it has no firewall then i wont have to worry about port openning for games and such right, everything should be compatable, i will still be able to use my pc and ps2 at the same time? thanx for the help so far.
  13. what is the difference, can i use a switch instead of a router to run my pc and my playstation2???? or does the switch need a router to supply the connection... if i can use this would it be a better idea or will it make no difference, i want the best possible connection to my ps2, im not too worried about the pc speeds are ok there but i lag alot on my ps2, especially socom2.... the cable guy came today and said the signal to my modem was at -15.5 db. which is just out of their limits.... he did a few things not sure what and got the signal to -9.5. which is better i guess.... but now my dl speeds are still crappy. pay for 6mb dl, and get 1.5 mb if im lucky... awesome huh for 79 dollars amonth lol... any input is greatly appreciated.
  14. were you able to get a better performace from your sub/amp setup? or have you got that new amp yet?
  15. that amp that u just mentioned will work alot better than the one you have now...mono block amps are so much better for subs than traditional class a/b circut amps.... the description says it will put out 1500 watts rms 3000 max... boss over rates products so id say you might get 900-1000 watts rms if your lucky but that will definitly be good... do you know how many fuses are in the amp,, that power should have 2 60 amp fuses or more...you can tell how much the amp will put out by taking the accumlated number of amps on the fuses and take that by the power your vehicle is puttin out... prolly 12.5 volts to 14.4v.... so if it has lets say 2 60amp fuse and your car puts out 13.5volts. you can expect 1620watts rms roughly at 1 ohm.... but if it ony has 2 30 amp fuses then 810 watts will be what you get.... if you get this wired up and still are not happy with the sound, more than likely you will need a beter amp... id recommend staying away from jensen, plye. sony, rockford fosgate, pioneer... amps like that, if you need i can refer some better amps that are not overly expensive.... all the ones i just listed really do not put out what they say... RF use to make good amps but nowa days id rate them with sony and others of the such, i have personally tested some of their amps, like the bd1000 againts one of my kicker kx600.1s. the RF just sucked... tested it a while back when i was running kicker L7 solobaics (lets not get started on them lol, over priced hunk of speaker lol) but anyway, for 250 you can get some really good deals online, and can gurentee better performance than the boss amp, but you may like and not have a problem with that boss amp, know a few people that used them and never had problems... and going with 2 amps and 2 subs, is not going to be much of a difference for you, not for the cost needed in getting a bigger high output alternator, a high cold cranking battery, and upgraded power wires... that may also be a problem now, what size wire are you using,,, id recommed 4 gauge.. anything smaller and you are risking a chance that your wire will not be able run the all the necessary power through it,, be kinda like tryin to fit a bouncy ball through a straw if your wire is too small, can heat up and even fry the wire.... grounding is also crutial... make sure the are being grounded to is sanded well no paint between contacts, make as short as possible but leave extra if planning on relocating amp, if not make as short as possible, always use the same size as power cable or bigger.... good luck, just my two cents for now.
  16. thank god, have to take the motor out of my ole lady's car tomorrow, blew a head gasket and got antifreeze in the oil, nothing worse than woring in the cold,,,, always makes its better with good sunlight and nice weather
  17. i dont live to far from chigago, lil town called amboy, bout 100 miles south of chi town, arent ya glad the weather is starting to get nicer/
  18. if you are still having problems, i am in the testmy chat right now, if you have that you can talk faster in there, or on yahoo my handle playa_jake2002
  19. At 4 omhs this amp will only give that sub about 400 watts... not very good for a 1000 watt rms sub.... do you have the amp bridged, run from the speaker wire from the pos of one channel and the neg of the other channel, this will bridge the channels and double the output but can only run 4 omh load..... by going to class d amp you mentioned earlier you should expect much more power to the sub... did you have the sub wire like the 2nd picture on the link above?? usually amps will tell how to bridge with a sticker on the bottom of the amp or in the manual... i think most you left positive and right negative but may be wrong, should check before you do so...
  20. http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wiringwizard.asp?WoofQty=1+woofer&WoofImp=Dual+Voice+Coil+-+2+ohms+x+2&image.x=17&image.y=7&image=Submit goto this link and look at the second box, with the 4 ohm option, is this how you have it set up, if not make sure you wire it this way or you will be wiring it either at 1ohm or completly wrong, by wiring it at 1ohm your amp will not push this load and will shut down and go into thermal mode.... which amp are you using to powere the RF sub??? have a model number or a net link so i can chekc it out.?
  21. that amp you have listed will work great for that sub... sorry it took a lil while to respond, havent been able to get online lately... but i see no reason why that amp will not push that sub..... just make sure to set the gains correctly, turn the volume on your head unit to where you normaly listen to it, no more than 75% of the max volume.... then adjust the input sensitivity(gain) to where the sub starts to distrort, then turn it down a tad bit... using bass boost is bad for your subs. good luck!
  22. if you have not purchased that amp yet i highly advise you to choose something that will better suite your needs. a mono block class d amp will fill your needs better here.... 2 channel amps are only bout 50-60%efficient which results in much less power and alot more heat... not good for electronics. on the other hand class d amps are 90+% efficient and are almost all fan cooled.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=18797&item=5764940941&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW since you will have to wire your subs in series to get a 4omh load each, and then parellel wire them together you will net a 2 ohm load.. if you go with that 2 channel amp, you will have to wire 1 sub to 1 channel and @ 4 omhs since the subs are dual 2 ohm you wont get very much power, id say prolly 500 watts maybe, boss over rate thier products a lil bit to boast sales.... and if you bridge the amp then you will get twice the amps power buit still at 4 omhs so then you can only use one woofer,,,, if you go with the amp i mentioned, you can wire them at a 2 ohm load and get 1800watts rms, from the amp about 900 watts to each sub.... there are many other amps out there if you need more help let me know.
  23. does it say dual 2 ohm or dual 4 omh, both models have 2 pos and 2 neg terminals... if it s dual 4 ohm you will get the most out of your amp, just take a short piece of speker wire and run from the one pos to the other, then another piece for the 2nd pos to the terminal inside your box, then the same with the neg, just run from one neg to the other neg, and then from that neg to the neg terminal inside your box.... if you have dual two omh load you will only get half your amps power since you have to run in 4 ohm load/,,, this requires seris wiring inside the box... which is like this/.... you will run pos from voice coil "A" to the pos on the inside of the box, then take neg on voice coil"A" to the pos of voice coil "B" then you run the neg from voice coil "B" to the neg terminal on the inside of the box...
  24. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50568&item=5763808878&rd=1 have you considered something like this, only 50 bucks... or if you have good enough woodworkin skills you can build your own for less/ just need one sheet of 3/4 inch mdf board. most places will even cut to size for a quarter or 50 cents a piece, then you just need 1 1.5 screws and a good sealing caulk... can probably make your own for under 20 bucks.... pretty easy sub calls for 1 cubic foot. so alls you need is 12.75x12.75 boards to make 1 cubic foot, going over under 25% will not hurt anything,,, make sure to fill with cotton pillow stufffing to reduce coin noise from inside the box....
  25. depends on what type of music do you listen to. if you listen to rock and roll, metal. stuff like that with alot of drums go sealed around .75 to 1 cubic foot.. if you are more into rap with deep bass, id highly recommed a ported enclouser, will give louder deeper bass... when going ported make sure you have a subsonic filter either inline on your rca cables or built into your amp. if not your sub can play below port frequiency and ruin your sub..... as for gettin another amp and going with another sub, not very good idea, will only add a 3db increase, per sub you add. and with going to another 1000 watt amp, you will more than likely have to upgrade electrical system in your vehicle. such as alternator, battery, and wires under the hood... not really worth it, good luck
