Thanks Swimmer. That's kind of the answer I was expecting. It's not that I even notice the difference between wired and wireless but you know every little bit you can get.

Hey, I've been running speed tests here every once in a while and typically get between 4800 to 5500Kbps which is acceptable but not near the 6MB connection I was promised. I've been using a internal Airport card and connecting through a Linksys WRT54G router. So today I was going through a box of junk and found a huge spool of ethernet cable. I hardwired my connection to the router and now when I run the speed test I get 5500-5950Kbps which is right up where I should be. So question. Are these wireless connections just slower or is there something I could do to make it better? Different router (Pre-N?) or a setting I could change? Or is this just the nature of the beast? Thanks.

I sure will. I'm at work today and won't be home until tomorrow so I'll do it then. I however found this site because I was checking at Speakeasy and kept getting upstreams this high there too. But I'll run some more. I don't think I've ever had any under 3Mbps.

Greencastle Indiana. We're the first city they've hooked up. It's nice but when I was talking with the installer he said right now anything that comes up is new to everyone and they're learning as they go. The ISP is Cinergy MetroNet Broadreach. I'm getting HD TV, phone and internet access all through a little bitty strand of glass.

Just thought I'd post my results here. I've got a new ISP which just came to town. It's through our electric company (Cinergy). It's fiber to the house. I'm paying for 6Mbps down/512Kbps up.
