Does system restore lose programs that were manually installed such as firefox, bitcomet, bitdefender anti-virus software. I mean like if these were installed before the system restore point chosen. Thanks.

Hey all, I've had my DVD-RW drive for a year now came with the dell PC . The PC is windows XP anyways, the problem is that my DVD-RW drive appears to be recognised as a CD- drive. This has only happened a day ago, before it appeared as a DVD-RW drive. When I click on it, it does not prompt me to "insert a disk at drive (:E)" it just come up with a screen as if there is a disk inside. I think this is causing a problem with my NERO software as I cannot copy to a DVD-RW disk for some reason. This only happened after the drive appeared as a CD drive. Can somebody help please!!!.
