  1. FallowEarth -- i pretty much did all the things that you listed here, even more than once. and as far as powering down the modem, as i mentioned, i am able to connect when up and running no problem so i don't know how powering down would help, unless i am missing something here. but i have nothing to lose by resetting it just to see what happens. i'll try that. i even tried switching ethernet cables to make sure it wasn't a cable problem, which there isn't. and i even switched the imput channel to the modem from E2 to E4 for his system with no luck.
  2. Cannot connect to the internet!!! have Verizon DSL and am using a Westell 327 VersaLink. my son's computer is running a ethernet cable from the Westell to his computer. everything has been working fine until yesterday. now his system will not log onto the internet. neither firefox nor IE will connect. everytime we try we get a "The connection was refused while attempting to contact www.example.com" type error message. the network/LAN connections setting is fine as it is connected. i tried pinging some sites and it seems like it pinged ok. other protocol settings seem ok too. ran all virus and spyware programs and nothing was amiss there. even did a system restore to a few days earlier with no luck. i'm just stumped as i can connect no problem but his system can't. any suggestions? THANKS! Edit:Changed url in message to www.example.com, just incase that site comes back up.

  4. as long as you are within the designated area from the CO. other than that all Verizon DSL customers can now upgrade their service at the same cost if you have the $29.95 a month plan. i've had the 1500/384 service since december and found out last night that all eligible Verizon customers can upgrade and still keep the same price. i called first thing this morning and they told me it would be up and running within 24 hours. i got home about 6:30 PM tonight and checked and everything is up at the new speeds. WOOHOO!!! :D
  5. i've had Verizon DSL since december at the 1500/384 speed for $29.95 a month. i found out last night that i could upgrade to 3000/768 at the same price. i called this morning and am now at the upgraded speed. here are my new test results: :::.. 6. i tried lowering my RWIN, using a couple of different values, going as low as 64K.. still the same results. i still have to post any tweaks i made here to be looked at. maybe i'm overlooking something for sure.
  7. QUOTE: oh, and that blinking is perfectly normal, the more it blinks the more it's transmitting. well that's good to know. i'll have to try the van buren guide. as fas as the dslreports.com tweak...that thing NEVER works for me. i always get a "time out" or connection error message, every time!! thanks for the replies. i'll keep you posted.
  8. Streaming audio/video hiccups, burps, rebuffers quick overview: running XP, Verizon DSL 1500/384, Westell 327 modem, Kerio Firewall whenever i run any streaming audio or video, whether it's with WinAmp, Real Player, or Media Player 10 it constantly skips and rebuffers. you can pretty much forget trying to listen to a whole song the whole way through without it doing this, which makes it pretty damn annoying!!!! DSL speeds are good and constant. but i do notice that the "internet" light on my Westell is always blinking when going from page to page or site to site a lot. is this natural or should it be just lit as a constant. if it is blinking is there a problem with what is getting through? and could that be what is causing the hiccups of the audio. i don't see anything out of the ordinary at 192.168.1.1 as far as settings go. i'm lost and just plain annoyed!! what's the use of having a broadband connection if you can't enjoy audio and video streams. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
  9. i have the Westell 327 modem. just a quick question..should i have the Single Static IP enabled or disabled? and what is the advantage/disadvantage of either option. thanks.
  10. i did a CableNut tweak and put the settings at optimal instead of default and here's what i got: :::..
