  1. I plan on calling them Friday morning when I have enough time to sit here and chat with them. Probably have a real heart to heart! Thanks for the suggestion, it is one more piece of data to get me some help. Tim
  2. I did just as you said this morning. The data transfer was just as slow in safe mode as it is in normal mode. Does this mean the problem is with Alltel? Thanks to everyone for their help. I don't have an ethernet card so I am using USB. When it is working, it is plenty fast. For whatever reason at 5 to 5:30 in the morning and after 9pm my connection just drops. It may take 5 or 10 minutes to load one page. Other times like right now, I can get data transfer rates over 200. Tim
  3. Thanks for the welcome! I have the modem connected via USB to my desktop. I have norton internet security running constantly. And no the light does not blink constantly. I don't have seperate send and receive lights. Just one called 'activity'
  4. I sure hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have Alltel DSL and a speedstream 4200 modem. It is a lot faster than my old direcway connection except for early in the morning. This morning I could not even use the internet it was so slow. Alltel says there is huge amounts of traffic upstream from my modem and I have spyware hogging my connection. I have run windows defender, spybot, trend micro and adaware. All say my system is clean. If there actually is a lot of upstream data, how do I find the source? I don't think my system is at fault because it only does this in the early am. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
