  1. TW > Adelphia imho. I was getting bad routing/ping/drop issues with Adelphia in March and they said it was because they were laying down fiber lines... Which doesn't make much sense cuz they're a cable company, but you never know. In some areas TW offers 8-10 MB premium plans, they may offer them here as well. I wish I had FiOS though
  2. Use utorrent1.6 and port forward the right ports. I think Utorrent default is 34146, I forwarded that on my router as well as my DSL modem. I reach speeds up to 200/300 Kbps on most torrents with 3/768 with 2-3+ seeders as long as all my ports are open/firewalls down and I'm not using the internet. This of course brings makes your computer vulnerable security-wise but I'm sure you know that. Try: http://www.portforward.com/ I hope you're using torrents to download *legally*. *edit*: Noting the post above, torrents are useful in downloading large files that are legal, a lot of demos for games coming out now are put in torrent form. People used to put home videos on them but YouTube killed that... I think you can still find some Star Trek vids.
  3. Weirdly enough, I live up in Amherst about 30 mins from the airport (14221) and called them today about fiber and they told me they wouldn't be setting up fiber in my neighborhood till next year. Although I did read on Wikipedia they would have fiber in Southern Buffalo at the start of the summer. I got Verizon DSL atm, had Adelphia but they were getting terrible lag around April and just switched away.
