  1. Nope, we don't get the boost here (Denver) until mid-September, and from what I've seen of others who have it already I would be higher than 12... I use SpeedConnect MC: http://www.cbs-soft.com/speedconnect.htm using setting for: Cable Mode 3 I've never had below 9 since I installed it, and usually faster. Very cool, because when I tried other tweaking, it really didn't make an impact.

  3. Yeah - I'm not about to complain that I'm not being capped at 8. If their network guys don't care, fine by me...
  4. Sorry man, I tried, but it won't work with my router (Motorola) and Firewall (McAfee), and I'm not about to open things wide up and become an IP "blip" in order to test it further. I'm sure they're not capping me. I've tested on other BW sites too.
  5. I was curious, so I called Comcast, and we'll be getting the PowerBoost here in Denver mid-September. Should ROCK.
  6. We haven't gotten the "boost" here in Denver yet, either, but I hear it is soon. Can't wait for that. But right now I'm paying for 8 and getting over 10 (sometimes 11+) so I'm :::.. 7. I only use SpeedConnect MC: http://www.cbs-soft.com/speedconnect.htm using setting for: Cable Mode 3 Brought me up from between 6 and 7 to 9's - then the Firefox tweak of the 250ms delay down to zero, and their update to 1.5.0.6 has me at the new (almost 12 speed). Comcast told me they would cap me at 8, but obviously they aren't.

  9. Thanks man - but I remember the days of 2400 baud modems and bulletin boards... (yeah, I'm a geek) I pay $55, but my roommate runs off our LAN too.
  10. My only tweaking is a program called SpeedConnect MC, which definitely made a difference (I used to get around 7, with my Router, Firewall and Prevx running). Now, it's never less than 8.7, even at peak. So, I'm very happy with Comcast.

  13. BTW - This is through Firefox, the ONLY browser (tested IE7, IE6, Netscrape, and Opera 9) that allowed me to hit 8 Mbps, let alone exceed it. Fasterfox IS installed on my version 1.5.0.5.
  14. This is with the Comcast 8 Mbps plan, and I am NOT running Google or any other accelerator progz. I tweaked my settings using SpeedConnect MC. Apparently, Comcast is not capping me (or the testmy.net is invalid), but my downloads HUM, so I have no complaints.
