  1. Well, I tried it again and this is what I got: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 444 Kbps about 0.44 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 54 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/08/08 - 10:52pm Bottom Line:: 8X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 18.96 sec Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 55.14 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 37.22 % of your hosts average (230.39) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-R0NFVIHTG User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 [!]
  2. My family had WB installed last week. Did great the first day, then it went down for a couple hours. It's been slow everysince. My ping on games are usually above 500. More depending on the game. The download rates are impossible, thankfully, I don't download much. Glance at the stickied post and here's a lsit of information. 1. What OS are you running? Windows XP SP 2 2. Who your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is, and what the advertised speed for download/upload is. WildBlue. 512 is the download speed 3. What tweaking programs you already have installed, and run this test. I haven't downloaded anything as of yet. TCP properties for IP = ########## () Browser/OS = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address. TCP options string = 020405b4010303000101080a00792be600000000 MTU = 1500 MTU is fully optimized for broadband. MSS = 1460 Maximum useful data in each packet = 1448, which is less than MSS because of Timestamps, or other TCP/IP options used. Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535 RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 65535 Note: TCP 1323 Options need to be enabled for RWIN over 2^16 (65535). Windows 9x might also need the MS Vtcp386 fix. For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS. Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS: 513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4) 128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2) 64240 (MSS x 44) bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test): Your TCP Window limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms Your TCP Window limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON Time to live left = 54 hops TTL value is ok. Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON Note: Timestamps add 12 bytes to the TCP header of each packet, reducing the space available for useful data. Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = OFF IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0) 4. What speed do you have against https://testmy.net and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ also download this Tracert and Ping program (made by php) and click on check.bat. https://testmy.net results: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 232 Kbps about 0.23 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Download Speed is:: 28 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/08/08 - 3:32pm Bottom Line:: 4X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 36.57 sec Tested from a 386 kB file and took 13.641 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 16.82 % of your hosts average (230.36) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-ESPBZ2UWG User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 [!] http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ results: Woulds finish 5. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. You most likely only need "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)." If you share files on your home network, you also need "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks." Did that 6. Open Internet Explorer and select the Tools menu, go to Internet Options, Connections tab, click the LAN settings button, make sure nothing there is checked. Did That 7. Never Connect to your modem via USB ! Always connect to your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depends on the ISP service unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL. If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware. Connected via ethernet 8. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for at least 3 minutes Did that 9. Download, update, and do a scan with SpyBot and Ad Aware to remove any spyware Didn't do it. Two programs are worthless in my eyes 10. ZoneAlarm firewall has known problems with dropping speed, I suggest to uninstall it and compare speed Don't have it 11. Install Outpost Firewall, Sygate Firewall, or Zone Alarm. Have AVG 12. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one, AVG, Avast!, and Ewido are great. Done it. Have AVG 13. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates Got em 14. Download and run CCleaner Haven't done it 15. Go to VanBuren testmy.net Cablenut settings and install Cablenut 4.08 and Vanburens cablenut settings version 9 Didn't do it 16. If you choose to build your own tweakfile with j79zlr's webpage, I suggest to leave SynAttackProtect to 0, and use a latency value between 150 and 300 ms. If your calculated TcpWindowSize is above 65535 and your webrowsing seem sluggish, i suggest to test with a TcpWindowSize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize that is 44 x ( your MSS value ) and change Tcp13230pts to 0. Haven't built file
