  1. :cry: Wahaha my speed in my desktop aren't constant. It returned to its slow speed again.

    here are the results:

    :::.. Download Stats ..:::

    Download Connection is:: 436 Kbps about 0.44 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 53 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

    Test Time:: 2006/08/21 - 7:54am

    Bottom Line:: 8X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 19.32 sec

    Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 56.156 seconds to complete

    Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 33.75 % of your hosts average (d-one.net)

    D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-HFXQT137L

    User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 [!]

    However when I tested my bandwidth in the laptop which was connected through a router, I got these results:

    ::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::

    Download Connection is:: 939 Kbps about 0.94 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 115 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 2)

    Test Time:: 2006/08/21 - 7:44am

    Bottom Line:: 16X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 8.9 sec

    Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 26.098 seconds to complete

    Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 72.57 % of your hosts average (d-one.net)

    D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-CI7900GUV

    User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)

    I am wondering why does my laptop and pc show a dramatic difference in speed? My laptop has no dl accelerators and it is connected with the interent through a linksys befsr41 router.

    I cleared the cache, cookies and history in the laptop when I did this test. I also did the same when I tested my speed on the desktop.

  2. Thanks dlewis23 for your help

    This is my current speed when I used your tweak

    Not much of a difference though, but I'd like to learn how you were able to make these settings? So that next time I would be able to make the settings by myself

  3. What is RWIN cause TPC analyzer gave me these results

    RWIN seems to be set to a very small number. If you're on a broadband connection, consider using a larger value.

    For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.

    Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

    511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8 )

    255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

    127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

    63888 (MSS x 44)

    Will changing these values make my connection faster? if yes how do I change them? should I use cablenut?

  4. Thanks for posting dlewis23, uhm what does PPPoE do? and won't my speed be limited to 512 kbps when I move the slider to this speed in tcp optimizer?

    I tried testing my speed again tonight and just as I expected it was faster compared to this afternoon

    speed results:

    :::.. Download Stats ..:::

    Download Connection is:: 1147 Kbps about 1.15 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 140 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

    Test Time:: 2006/08/17 - 8:39am

    Bottom Line:: 20X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 7.31 sec

    Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 21.36 seconds to complete

    Download Diagnosis:: 90% + Okay : running at 92.05 % of your hosts average (d-one.net)

    D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-27HUBIWRN

    User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 [!]

    Is there a way to make my speed constant through out the day?

  5. Hello I've been reading a lot of forums here for 2 years already; however, this is my first time to register and post a question.

    Well my internet seems to get good speeds at night ranging from 900-1.3 Mbps, but usually it keeps on changing speeds whenever i test it. I've been testing my bandwidth with a lot of sites namely speakeasy.net, 2wire.com including my favorite  ;) testmy.net however their speeds always vary. Usually during the day I get a slow speed.

    My question is could anyone help me tweak my pc so that I could get a better speed. My advertised speed is 512Kbps, but as I said it reaches up to 1Mbps because my isp isn't capped.

    These are my specs

    OS: Windows XP Professional

    ISP: Mydestiny internet (Philippines)--- cable

    Router: Linksys Befs41 v1

    Here's my speed results:

    ::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::

    Download Connection is:: 242 Kbps about 0.24 Mbps (tested with 579 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 30 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1)

    Test Time:: 2006/08/17 - 2:03am

    Bottom Line:: 4X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 34.13 sec

    Tested from a 579 kB file and took 19.609 seconds to complete

    Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 19.3 % of your hosts average (d-one.net)

    D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-EY512LM3B

    User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6

    I also posted results I got from TCP Analyzer:

    SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer

    TCP properties for IP = 202.8.240.177 ()

    Browser/OS = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6

    Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address.

    TCP options string = 020405ac01010402

    MTU = 1492

    MTU is optimized for PPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

    MSS = 1452

    MSS is optimized for PPPoE DSL broadband. If not, consider raising your MTU value.

    Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 11680

    RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits

    Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 11680

    RWIN seems to be set to a very small number. If you're on a broadband connection, consider using a larger value.

    For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.

    Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:

    511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8 )

    255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)

    127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

    63888 (MSS x 44)

    bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test):

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 467.2 Kbps (58.4 KBytes/s) @ 200ms

    Your TCP Window limits you to: 186.88 Kbps (23.36 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

    Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

    MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

    Time to live left = 55 hops

    TTL value is ok.

    Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

    Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

    IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0)

    Can anyone teach me what RWIN is and what configurations I need for cablenut?

    I called my provider and they said I had good signals, but i doubt it because a few months a go I've been getting speeds of 1Mbps during the whole day.
