  1. thank you very much. I feel better now. BTW one more thing.. can you enlighten my question about PPPoA on my router? will the cablenut and the TCP optimizers work on this type of encapsulation? how do i convert it to PPPoE and is it recommended? thanks again.
  2. Thanks for the warm welcome and the quick reply. here's my traceroute result: Traceroute from utility.globequest.com.ph to www.testmy.net 1 202.52.162.146 (202.52.162.146) 104.790 ms 104.741 ms 107.625 ms 2 202.52.160.2 (202.52.160.2) 104.267 ms 15.984 ms 116.445 ms 3 203.177.68.177 (203.177.68.177) 16.170 ms 15.990 ms 116.380 ms 4 203.177.31.89 (203.177.31.89) 16.357 ms 16.061 ms 116.440 ms 5 203.177.15.77 (203.177.15.77) 195.173 ms 195.420 ms 195.459 ms 6 4.79.42.165 (4.79.42.165) 203.488 ms 201.790 ms 192.773 ms 7 ae-2-54.bbr2.SanJose1.Level3.net (4.68.123.97) 210.251 ms ae-2-56.bbr2.SanJose1.Level3.net (4.68.123.161) 209.550 ms ae-2-52.bbr2.SanJose1.Level3.net (4.68.123.33) 206.957 ms 8 ae-0-0.bbr1.Dallas1.Level3.net (64.159.1.109) 266.505 ms as-1-0.bbr2.Dallas1.Level3.net (64.159.0.245) 233.122 ms ae-0-0.bbr1.Dallas1.Level3.net (64.159.1.109) 224.728 ms 9 ae-24-56.car4.Dallas1.Level3.net (4.68.122.176) 232.118 ms ae-24-52.car4.Dallas1.Level3.net (4.68.122.48) 230.487 ms ae-14-51.car4.Dallas1.Level3.net (4.68.122.16) 230.797 ms 10 THE-PLANET.car4.Level3.net (63.209.48.110) 225.844 ms 4.78.224.14 (4.78.224.14) 234.553 ms THE-PLANET.car4.Level3.net (63.209.48.110) 226.867 ms 11 vl31.dsr01.dllstx3.theplanet.com (70.85.127.29) 242.819 ms vl32.dsr02.dllstx3.theplanet.com (70.85.127.62) 240.537 ms vl32.dsr01.dllstx3.theplanet.com (70.85.127.61) 239.098 ms 12 vl42.dsr02.dllstx4.theplanet.com (70.85.127.91) 231.328 ms vl41.dsr01.dllstx4.theplanet.com (70.85.127.83) 241.026 ms vl42.dsr02.dllstx4.theplanet.com (70.85.127.91) 225.527 ms 13 gi1-0-1.car17.dllstx4.theplanet.com (67.18.116.69) 225.489 ms 234.823 ms gi1-0-2.car17.dllstx4.theplanet.com (67.18.116.85) 225.476 ms 14 55.b3.1243.static.theplanet.com (67.18.179.85) 234.044 ms 236.019 ms 238.261 ms Done!
  3. Hi Everyone, I just got here and I'm amazed at the huge information I came up with regarding connection tweaking and stuff. My problem is about my 512kbps DSL connection on Globelines Broadband here at the Philippines. This drop in connection speed just happend about a week ago. My Netmeter says that my UL is at 22.5kb/s and DL is at 55.4kb/s but when I ran speed tests here my stat goes like this: :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 45 Kbps about 0.05 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Download Speed is:: 5 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 38 Kbps about 0.04 Mbps (tested with 97 kB) Upload Speed is:: 5 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/08/29 - 9:24am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-6WOKH2AC4 U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-YZS7HQF5C User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6 [!] isnt that like the shittiest connection speed you've ever seen? My TCP/IP analyzer test was this: TCP options string = 0204059801010402 MTU = 1472 MTU is not fully optimized for broadband. Consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for better throughput. If you are using a router, it could be limiting your MTU regardless of Registry settings. MSS = 1432 Maximum useful data in each packet = 1432, which equals MSS. Default TCP Receive Window (RWIN) = 18616 RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits Unscaled TCP Receive Window = 18616 RWIN is a multiple of MSS Other RWIN values that might work well with your current MTU/MSS: 504064 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 252032 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4) 126016 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2) 63008 (MSS x 44) bandwidth * delay product (Note this is not a speed test): Your TCP Window limits you to: 744.64 kbps (93.08 KBytes/s) @ 200ms Your TCP Window limits you to: 297.856 kbps (37.232 KBytes/s) @ 500ms Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband. MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON Time to live left = 120 hops TTL value is ok. Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000 (0) I already applied Van Muren's Cablenut settings but i only get occassional speed bursts and nothing more. Tried TCPIP Optimizer but that didnt help either. Any Ideas why this could be happening? BTW my linksys router states that my encapsulation is set at PPPoA VC-MUX, what does that mean? I've read that Cablenut settings and TCP optimizers work only on PPPoE. TIA
