the test goes for a bit but once it hits the 12mb one it goes to about 50% then freezes then starts back up again.

  3. To start off, i haven't been here in a while and for the past month I've been having periodic internet hang ups which results in pages not loading and horrible lag.(on World of Warcraft the latency meter shows 2k ms up to 10k ms)

I have a ping test for about 15 minutes to Yahoo.com(i accidently closed out the command prompt i had it running for 2 hours and had been getting similar pings)

    C:Documents and SettingsCompaq_Owner>ping yahoo.c

These bursts of lag can last from 5 seconds to upto 5 hours. And constant calls to isp and tech visits uncovers nothing. They were supposed to send out somebody to check the lines but no one came.(was supposed to come yesterday at 7pm cst) Even if they ping my modem when it's going on they see no lag and i know it's not the router because it did the same without it.

    Any thoughts?

no matter what my speed has been slower lately..... i was getting 20mbps on this site and now i'm lucky to get that.

i have tweaked it with a 10/1 file a year ago.

  6. Hey guys...  Been searching for quite awhile for information to hopefully bring my internet connection up to snuff.  Looks like most of the posts here are very informative and seems to be a good wealth of experience with some of these problems.

I've read through both stickys and have given all suggestions a shot, with no noticeable change.  I'm running Cox 7 Mbps out of Oklahoma City.  I consistently run between 2 and 3 Mbps according to Cox's Las Vegas Speed Test.  Looks like my upload speed is fine, around 550 or so.

I normally run my setup through a Linksys WRT54G, but have also tried connecting my computer directly to the modem, with no improvement.  I also normally run Zone Labs Security Suite, but have the same results with it disabled.

Here are my results from the testmy.net tests:

Greatly appreciate any help that you all might be able to offer.  I've heard horror stories of dealing with Cox techs.  Trying to make sure there's nothing on my end before I start that process.

since you have Cox in oklahoma (tulsa here) go to http://myspeed.Coxinet.net or http://www.speedtest.Coxinet.net
