  1. Rogers is also what I have and I've been having major problems lately as well.. I think you and I are both screwed until they upgrade their equipment or something I've been sending at least a few 'I am not getting what I paid for' emails to them per day, and I'd suggest you do the same heh
  2. Tried that before I re-installed my network card and re-created my network connection, but it didn't help. Re-installing the network card reset it to default, so I switched it back to force 100 full duplex now again.. Still no difference :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 421 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is:: 51 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Mon Mar 7 15:43:49 EST 2005 Bottom Line:: 8X faster than 56K 1MB download in 20.08 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 21.52 % of your hosts average (rogers.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-E0QXHM9SO
  3. Router bypassed, no difference Different cable going directly from the modem to my computer, no difference And yes, I use a NIC (not USB) and I have the newest drivers for it, downloaded yesterday from nvidia.com (use built in network card currently on my nForce 2 motherboard) Also had a different network card before, with newest drivers.. Reason I switched from it to the built in network card was so that I could see if the network card was the problem. Switching had no effect SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer TCP properties for IP = 24.103.145.246 () Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) Notes: Read the Analyzer FAQ if the above is not your IP address. C:> Still seems like my results are very poor. Power cycled my modem so many times as I was doing all of this.. Only thing I didnt/couldn't do was go to http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks. For some reason the java thing doesn't load for me there even though I installed Java as it instructed. All I can think of is that my cable company needs to do something.. but they are at this point blaming it on spyware, virus', etc. and telling me I need to consult a computer tech heh,,
  5. After going through a bunch of emails with my ISP, they are telling me that the problems I'm having are not related to them at all. One tracert I did pointed the fingers at AT&T networks (had 50% packet loss to an AT&T hop) However.. If nothing is my ISP's fault, I am really stumped as to why I would have such poor results in bandwidth speed tests. Example once again: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 448 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 1013 KB) Download Speed is:: 55 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Sun Mar 6 23:55:25 EST 2005 Bottom Line:: 8X faster than 56K 1MB download in 18.62 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 22.88 % of your hosts average (rogers.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-DF5C3GTB6 I can also go to other speedtest websites and obtain results nearly as poor. My connection is rated at 3000 / 384 ... Currently my router is connected, but I can disconect it and get exactly the same range of results. Things do not magically improve by disconnecting my router (I wish it was that simple) My most recent line quality test: http://www.broadbandreports.com/quality/nil/1673334 Computer is virus free and spyware free.. I'm a gamer, I keep my system as healthy as possible to keep those framerates as high as possible 'Power cycling' modem does not help. ipconfig/release and /renew doesn't help either. System is running Windows XP SP2. I've had lag issues in my game for a long time, but I always assumed it was the game (because for some people it is). But I'm getting tired of hearing all my friends saying they have sub 150ms pings, when mine's hovering around 350. I assume that if this is an issue with my system setup or my ISP, that it has been like this for a long time but I never noticed it as much when I wasn't playing online games...
  6. http://www.broadbandreports.com/quality/nil/1673074 http://www.broadbandreports.com/quality/nil/1673065 http://www.broadbandreports.com/quality/nil/1666546 http://www.broadbandreports.com/quality/nil/1666535 2005-02-26 22:59:00 Speed test @ dslreports.linkline.com 429/412 kbps Windows firewall service is disabled. Not using any antivirus software or extra firewall software. I've tried unplugging my modem, rebooting system, etc. On some sites my connection seems perfectly fast - on others, very slow. Some speed test websites report decent results, others - horrible. Ping time to my game server was around 300ms at 5am local time, when others were getting around 100ms.
  7. Did the download test with these results: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 630 Kbps about 0.6 Mbps (tested with 748 KB) Download Speed is:: 77 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Test Time:: Sat Mar 5 04:53:59 EST 2005 Bottom Line:: 11X faster than 56K 1MB download in 13.3 sec Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 31.9 % of your hosts average (rogers.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/id-37RHW98AX I don't know what to do I've also found that my ping times in online games are somewhat poor compared to my friends (that's what prompted my investigations) Running Windows XP. Currently have my router disconected.. Nothing I do seems to fix my problems. Any suggestons?
