  8. But thank you VanBuren & h2haxor for your help and time!! I will also give Zoom tech support a ring to see if the modem is faulty or if there is more to setup. But thanks ! And I'll keep playing with the settings to get the speed back!
  9. The speed is alittle less than 50%. I cant make it to 3Mbps I think there might be something wrong with the modem. To set up this modem only takes a couple of steps and your done. You input your VPI/VCI save it and your modem is set up and ready to surf.
  10. I deleted cablenut settings and bumped my router up to 1500 MTU. But I did a TCP/IP analyze,

  13. I just got a Zoom X4v Voip 4-Port Modem. I have Bellsouth 6.0M Extreme ADSL service, P4 3.0 4G Ram, running XP Pro sp2. Well I got a new modem because the bell modem didn't like my router. So picked up the zoom because of the router functions are build in and it is a way better modem. Now my internet speed has gone from 760kB/s down to a slow 267kB/s. Does anybody have any suggestions? Im open for any right now!! old speed test new test

Only reason why is because the zoom modem data specs are waaaaay better than the westell.
  15. Thats one of the problems also. The new modem I purchased and bell wont support it because it didnt come from them. There modem is a Westell 6100, the little black box. I'm gonna try a swap to see if the modem is the problem or the line. be back in 10
  16. My speed dropped when I got a new modem. I have done the MTU test in dos and it shows that I'm at 1464 then add 28 which puts me at 1492. And my zoom x5v modem is also set at 1492 but something isn't right because speeds have been slowing down. I have also done spy ware, virus, add ware checks and they come up clean. But speeds did drop when I installed the new modem though. I even went through zoom tech support and they said nothing is wrong with the modem. ???? I just don't know
  17. OK last night my MTU was stuck at 1472 and its still stuck. But now every test has been getting worst! ISP is bellsouth w/ 6.0M extreme dsl, xp pro sp2, zoom x5v voip gateway modem. last night my download speed was 399kB/s, and today it dropped to 143kB/s and I should be around 700 - 800kB/s. 19. A few places I have looked was saying that PPPOE MTU should be 1492 even just using windows stock settings. But I could be wrong also Im a geek but not quite a super geek! Butt one day I will reach that spot of super geek lol Thanks for the help guys!!
  20. Since I'm with bell south ISP with the 6.0M extreme package w/ XP pro sp2. When using cable nut should I use the settings for PPPOE or would the other DSL settings work just fine?
  21. Sorry about that tommie gorman, thanks for the response and I'm glad to be here. And I was thinking about switching over to cable nut to give it a shot!! Since for some reason I cant get into speedguide.net forums to ask for help . Give me about 5 - 10 mins and I'll grab cable nut and get my speed back up and zoom'n
  22. Yup, I rebooted , checked it , ran another test and it has been getting slower. I was at now lam at and it has been getting slower uploading pages while suffering. Here are my settings now ,
