anyone able to help? i dont think tweaking is the answer here, linux hits 770kb/s down, and so does my windows box, thats why i believe it to be an issue with my router. im going to try with a cisco 800 series later this week, that should give me a much better idea

i would love to use the same mirror, but i would have to wait for next month to test that cause its hit its donation. ria-tech, even tho its in australia, is useless, the results are not accurate, perhaps for people in that state, but its not in any 'major routes' (ie: my connection goes adelaide -> sydney -> san jose) where qld (ria tech) is off a small pipe from sydney, and not too accurate. but on both speed tests i have tested with file from my isp: [`[*Test Results*]`] [(---------------------------------- Test run on [*20/03/2007*] @ [*07:11 PM*] Mirror: [*Internode*] Data: [*15 MB*] Test Time: [*19.95 secs*] Your line speed is [*6.28 Mbps*] (6281 Kbps). Your download speed is [*785 kB/s*] (0.77 MB/s). )] as in my isp is internode. also fyi, riatech isn't configured for 2mb uploads, it re-directs to another server

seems like a weird thing to mention before, but the file i had loaded, well i dont remember which one it was, lol so im back to random testing, but it may also seem weird but the version 9 files, the 3mbit css file gives a better end speed than the 5mb+ file. but ill welcome all other idea's

okay kinda bored n not home yet *sigh* i hate the 8am->9pm days but i decided to get some stats for this here thread so i ssh'd into my server @ home while it was idle n did a simple wget, yes i know, this is all about tweaking windows etc etc, but here it is: (partly through a 15mb pic download used for www.ozspeedtest.com.au: [root@##### ~]# wget --20:31:32-- => `grass_15mb.jpg?t=1174301784530.1' Resolving speedtest-2.internode.on.net... 203.26.94.189 Connecting to speedtest-2.internode.on.net|203.26.94.189|:80... connected. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: 15,666,404 (15M) [image/jpeg] 57% [==========================================================> ] 9,020,775 772.25K/s ETA 00:09 so correct me if im wrong but to get my kbit, i would 772.25*8*1.1 (10% for tcp overheads) therefore being 6.7mbit + ATM overheads, am i perhaps expecting too much out of an 8mbit connection? especially seeing as its syncing at 7.6mbit (if that is an indication of max speed) insomniac

Answer:I havent built my own file... Currently @ work, i will update later 2night with the speed tests, but the best i seem able to obtain is 6.6/6.8 down and 384kbit up, yet i sync @ 7616 (<500 meters from dslam) i did apply some cablenut tweaks and took my windows box from 550kbyte/sec upto around 770ish, but (of course) my linux box didnt move, i am wondering if i may be at the boundaries of tweaking and this could be a hardware (modem) issue
