  1. Thanks! So I would not need to change any settings, such as go from DHCP to PPPoE?
  2. Hi all, I'm new here. Wonder if y'all know the answer to this: I just got Fios internet and phone (no tv) in a highrise apartment. They gave me an Actiontec router, connected to my computer (2 month old MacIntosh laptop) via ethernet. the router is also connected to a Xyzel VDSL modem. The question is, can I bypass the router (not use it) and just connect the ethernet directly to the modem? I simply do not want any "signals" in my apartment (not for computer security reasons - I understand others cannot get on without a key - I just don't want it regardless). The Verizon guy logged into the router and turned wireless off, but am I still receiving or transmitting any kind of signal? (Maybe it is still broadcasting for IP address purposes?) My understanding from this tech (different tech, different answer) is that I can do that (connect to modem only, leaving router out of the picture) but then I have to change network settings to PPPoe instead of DHCP and PPPoe is not as reliable (plus for some reason on my Mac laptop he could not get or see something regarding the ability to set PPPoe settings properly.) Thanks for any thoughts! Summer http://www.RockinGenius.com http://www.skate101.com http://www.vegitude.com http://www.ImaginAzian.com
