  1. hey guys, i have a question, my connection is upgraded to WR512. but my speed is always 400-500, i cant reach the 600 mark. i tried CB's 20 steps but still up to 400-500 only. what else can i do?

    That speed is cool enough :) Remember it's 512 :D  and CIR is still 100 kbits/s. ;) MIR is 512kbits/s.  Be thankful you get that speed :)

  2. when I access my portal is always say that "Error detected.. Timeout in getting SID. Please try again.

    If this error shows again, please call tech support." anyone pls explain what is this??

    That's actually a glitch in their system.  What are you trying to do with the portal?  Were you able to browse the web before going to the portal? Or it redirects you when you try to access any website?  If it redirects you, open a command prompt window and type ping -t google.com.  If you get Request Timed Out then it means your session isn't authenticated with Smart Bro yet but you get otherwise then the Error in Getting SID is just fine.

  3. Hello everyone!  New to the forum.

    I came about this forum just yesterday while accessing portal.smartbro.net trying to figure out how I could at least make my connection real steady.  I too have been upgraded into a WR512 and I think it will stay on this package as my account shows this is active till my next billing period.

    From there, found a tweak and tried Coolbuster?s steps to optimize my smartbro?s connection.  Tested the download and upload speed and yeah it transitioned into twice my original speed, so great!  I tried downloading from my client's DL/UL software and it saves me more than an hour to download all my files, wow!

    Okay, point taken?If I split my broadband?s speed for two machines like adding another desktop or laptop perhaps through a router, will it affect the internet speed again if I run the two machines at the same time?  Any remedies for this, anyone?  Thanks much!

    Definitely Yes.  Even in one machine, (I don't know if this happens to others) try to download 2 files from 2 different sites. The bandwidth will be divided into 2. Like I said, I don't know if this is true to all.

    Sharing your connection to 2 machines will definitely affect the speed.

  4. can you post on how to do it?

    some formula and materials that i need to make it.

    Thanks in advance

    You need to buy a reflector or use an old satellite dish.  The ideal one is an old direcTV dish.  I don't know if there's DirecTV here in the PI but any satellite dish will do ;)  You can search Canopy in wikipedia and it will return a result with a picture of a backhaul attached to a reflector.

  6. hi i would like to ask about the signal of smartbro.. there is a way to extend our signal by putting external antenna into it?

    does signal change the speed of smartbro connection? t

    :smiley:Thanks

    At some point, it may affect the speed.

    To increase the signal, you may want to put a parabolic reflector to your SM

  7. i cant even open my canopy site coz i cant connect to the internet

    Have you searched the forum on how to access your Canopy webpage?

    Go to Control Panel

    Click Network Connections

    Right Click on your Ethernet Adapter

    Click Properties

    Double Click TCP/IP

    Use: 169.254.1.5 as your IP

    Subnet: 255.255.0.0

    Then OK

    Try to access 169.254.1.1

    If you are on Class A IP (10.xxx.xxx.xxx) then follow same procedure but use 10.20.30.40 as IP and 255.0.0.0 as Subnet Mask.

    Then access your Canopy by its IP (10.xxx.xxx.xxx).

    If you don't know the IP, go to Command Prompt and type arp -a.  You should see your canopy IP.  If not, your antenna must have been configured to use DHCP.  You need to reset it using a default plug.

    ***TIP: to prevent Smart from accessing your antenna in the future, change SNMP Read/Write permission to Read Only and make sure you create a password for users root and admin.***

  8. help.... i have a unstable connection since feb.11 up to now. i found out that the jitter and rssi drop to zero and after a few minutes its return to normal again.what can do anyone pls...

    I guess it's with the access point.  Call smart and ask what's going on.  I suggest you look for their Operations Manager "Bing Silverio" - he's a guy, ok? hehe

    If the OM is not around look for any of the following supervisors:

    Olive DeLos Santos - 7am - 4pm PHT

    Iaw Mendez

    Sarah Sarahani

    Nanette Garlando - 9pm - 6am

  9. i set my proxy configuration to manual and set it to proxy.smartbro.net  port 8080 and proxy.smartwifi.com.ph   port:8080 i dunno if this config. help me to have a 520Kbps..oh maybe its a luck like u said hehe..

    That's because you're pulling information from a proxy. That's already cached data.  It will really show a bit of improvement.. that's that's unreal :D Proxies are deceiving LOL

  10. ::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::

    Download Connection is:: 395 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 386 kB)

    Download Speed is:: 48 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main)

    Test Time:: 2008/02/12 - 4:04am

    Bottom Line:: 7X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 21.33 sec

    Tested from a 386 kB file and took 8 seconds to complete

    Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 33 % faster than the average for host (smartbro.net)

    do you think is this enough?

    is that so tnx!  btw  im sorry for not searching...

    Your speed is pretty fine. :) You're one of the lucky ones who get the advertised speed :D

  11. hi I'm new here can i ask on how to tweak the canopy lite and how to change color code?

    my rssi 1000

    jiter 4

    power 55dbm

    is this enough tnx

    There are existing posts here regarding that.  Please search the forum.

    Looks like your connection parameters are fine. (except for Jitter, a bit high but still tolerable).

    Changing color code doesn't always work.  If your profile is not roaming, when you change color code your account will be temporarily deactivated. (But will work on the old color code).

    You have to call Smart Bro and request for rehoming if needed.

    How's your speed by the way? Can you post a speedtest result here?

    BTW, :welcome: to TMN!
