  1. After uninstalling my antivirus, and running all of my cleaning/reg fix utilities, here are the results I got from doing the speed test on this site: :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 11184 Kbps about 11.18 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1365 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 1071 Kbps about 1.1 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 131 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2008/03/06 - 1:50am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-MITFDSAZU U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-1E9K4U7DF User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.0.04506; InfoPath.2) [!] I don't know if the speed test has been fixed on this website, or if it was my antivirus removal that did the trick. However I would like to note that in all of my prior tests, my anti virus app was completley shutdown.
  2. dial up..... i really cant remember the last tim i had that. I remember i had something called CompuServe though. Worse experience of my life (it was connected to AOL!). I thought cox was the best untill i found out about fios through this site.
  3. I see. Well when ever the internet pisses me off, at least ill still have my pro computer. Cost me way too much money so i have to justify the cost by using it as often as I can. Thats why I decided to get into tweaking and trying to make everything faster. One step at a time though.
  4. Thats cool. I appreciate all the help and work you guys have put into this site. One thing I find interesting, and I don't know if its a cox thing or not, is the fact that when I download smaller files, my download speed gets extremely low (even to the point of 50 kb/s), and it only hits about 1.4 mb/s with larger file downloads (like 30mb and above).
  5. This doesnt look much better at all... :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 5647 Kbps about 5.6 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 689 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Main) Test Time:: 2008/03/04 - 10:30pm Bottom Line:: 98X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 1.49 sec Tested from a 12160 kB file and took 17.641 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: May need help : running at only 79.65 % of your hosts average (cox.net) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-GKLEHVMZU User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.0.04506; InfoPath.2) [!]
  6. I am running windows xp pro, and i use the speed test on this website. Here are my latest results after applying the cablenut calc tweaks: ::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..:::::::::: Download Connection is:: 7179 Kbps about 7.18 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 876 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 1068 Kbps about 1.1 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 130 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2008/03/04 - 10:14pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-STK7UAH6B U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-7SPANJRIB User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.0.04506; InfoPath.2) I still think my connection can get faster. Is there anything else I can do? I have a cat5 ethernet cable, im using a linksys wcg200 router (has DOCIS 2.0), i only have the tcp/ip box checked under network adapters and there are no boxes checked under lan settings in internet options. Also, i just tested the speed at speedtest.net using the L.A. Server (im in san diego), and it said i scored 12.5mbps dl and 1mbps upload (ping@ 42ms).
  7. Cool, Ill see if it makes a change in those to boxes. Ill also try your file. I think it sucks how im paying for the 12mbps and only getting 5 to 6 mbps dl when I test it on this site. Ill let you guys know how the changes work out .
  8. It does fill in the boxes when I click ok, but it does not calculate them for 12mbps download. It only does it for up to a 10mbps download, even if you put a higher number in the calculator.
  9. Hey all I'm new, so sorry if this question has already been answered, but I live in San Diego and have cox premeir internet service rated at 12mbps download, and 1 mbps upload. When I go to put the download value of 12000kbps in the calculator, an error message pops up saying "That would be nice, please enter a real value". My question is what can I do to work around this, and how can I set up my cablenut settings? Thanks.
