My macbook has n wireless built into it. Any particular brand I should buy?

I am looking to buy a new router this weekend. I will be connecting 2 laptops to this router. Any suggestions on what brand I should buy? I live in a two story house, and I want something fast and reliable. The router will be put downstairs. Should I go with a wireless n router, or are they a waste of money? Thanks.
