  1. Aww had a feeling something wasn't right, damn I wish i had 900+kB/s upload Heres my new test, upload still is pretty good and better then its been. I have used the internet optimizer from System mechanic 7 as well as one of the custom MTU 1500 10000 from VanBuran's Cablenut settings. which was used before aswell. :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 11735 Kbps about 11.74 Mbps (tested with 12288 kB) Download Speed is:: 1432 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 2870 Kbps about 2.9 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Upload Speed is:: 350 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2008/04/30 - 4:10am D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-T0DHYBRXV U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-QWXCG0YTN User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 [!]
  2. dunno if I just so happened to hit one of the power boost spikes or not but this is by far the fastest i have EVER seen my upload, before that I was between 150-200kB/s :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 10720 Kbps about 10.72 Mbps (tested with 12288 kB) Download Speed is:: 1309 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 7531 Kbps about 7.5 Mbps (tested with 15872 kB) Upload Speed is:: 919 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2008/04/29 - 11:13pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-36FBAL27E U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-K6SYECQ9V User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14 [!] I dont know if its just the power boost from comcast or not but it makes me happy inside
  3. Is there a map or something of where they have it/when they will have it in certain areas...that you know of?
  4. Guess I should keep track of this stuff But, I think I would like verizon FIOS better, at least from what I remember reading about it months and months ago only I dont think they have it in my area yet
  5. Ok, so i havent even been here in forever and i saw an email from this place in my inbox so i decided to test. Back, who knows when, I got the 8Mbps connection which was the upgrade from 6Mbps..and now ::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..:::::::::: Download Connection is:: 25097 Kbps about 25.1 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 3064 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 1538 Kbps about 1.5 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 188 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/04/16 - 12:41pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-9SK07CT5I U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-94NYHE2KL User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20070309 Firefox/2.0.0.3 Maybe I too have the Powerboost but am not aware?
  6. guess that depends on how high the traffic is through the ISP, assuming it works the same as with cable and dsl (higher ammounts of traffic= slower speeds)
  7. Etiolate, what are the specs of your computer? I know when I had Comcast internet on my Dell dimension 2300, (Intel celery 1.8 Ghz, 64mb on board video, 512 MB ram, 40GB HD), my speeds were very very slow (maybe 500 Kb/s range), upgraded to my custom AMD system (AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1GB ram, 160 GB HD, 40GB HD, ATI radeon 9550) $600 later, my speeds jumped to over 1Mb/s avg. from any decent server with the same connection. And yes that was in Firefox With most of today's basic computers even, I don't see why the CPU would be getting used up that much unless there are some adware/spyware type problems involved.
  8. isn't FIOS way better than a good cable connection? Why are you concerned with tweaking it to be even better? :-/ Wish we had FIOS here....instead w are stuck with Comcast cable, or DSL......and I miss Comcast Also, try the test in IE as well
  9. Actually I am getting the error right now no matter how many times I try
  10. Well I think any upgrade could only mean good things...at least once all the bugs are worked out from the initial upgrading
  11. That is the same exact modem I had. The tech guy did some speed tests and said it was ridiculous that I was getting the speeds I was getting so he gave me a new modem...only it didn't get much better until he played around with the outside connections. so far this modem i have now the Terayon TJ 715x seems to be working alright
  12. YES!!!! I just got done with a comcast tech that swapped out my modem, motorola surfboard, with a teryon, plus fixed connections outside and said he made the outlet with my cable on it seperate from the other stuff now my download is back to beign great :haha: With a 6Mbps down 768Kbps down :::.. 13. fileplanet is awsome for downloads for me too. Haven't tried it recently but more than a few times I have averaged 15Mbps all the way up to 30+ Mbps which totaly blew me away and that was before and after I got the upgrade to 6 Mbps download
  14. True, but the thing is, I have done tweaks with cablenut and a couple other programs as well and the only thing that seems to have gotten better recently is my upload. Like i said, its been going on for 3 weeks or more. Same thing happend to a friend of mine on the other side of town too as well as other people in my area from what I have seen on a few different forums. I think tomorrow or the next day I am going to call comcast and see what they say about it
  15. Well lately, past 3 weeks or more, I have had a serious decrease in download speed. I have the upgraded package 6Mbps up 768Kb up. My upload has gotten a lot better, around 86 KB/s...but download is horrible at about 116 KB/s when around 3 to 4 weeks ago was at least 550 to 700 KB/s. I read a post on another forum earlier today http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,13580077 talking about how comcast made a CRAN upgrade last month and a guy from that post had to get another modem from comcast that helped boost it back up some. Maybe you got a better end of the stick haha
