  1. Hello all, I have been frustrated by my ISP reducing my speed depending on the size of the file being downloaded. I have a fixed wireless connection because I am in a rural area. The tower is about 11 miles but in plain sight of my dish. I pay for a so called 3Mb/s connection, but downloading a file of 12 MB, I can only get a sustained speed of around 700Kb/s. If I download a file of 3MB my speed doubles to about 1.5Mb/s. What should I be expecting in view of the "up to" proviso in my ISP contract? My ISP is Xplornet. Is this what is referred to as bandwidth shaping? I do not do peer to peer file transfers. I simply want to watch uninterrupted short videos from Utube or half hour talks from TED etc and do not use large file downloads. Any help would be appreciated
