  2. There was an error but what kind - I do not remember. Forgot to take a screenshot. But it did the same for firefox, chrome and IE 11.

    I cannot replicate the error now in any browser... go figure...

    Will run more single vs multi now that I can and post asap.

  3. Hey muydmanc4,

    I tried to run multithreaded tests few days ago but none of my browser could do it for some reason.

    Today it run just fine. The results are below (multithread, server set to Dallas, TX):

  4. I really am hoping for some input.

    I have 100 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up connection from Spectrum (TWC). I am in Dayton, OH area.

    TMN results are always between 25 - 30 Mbps.

    I downloaded games on STEAM and am getting 12 to 14 MB/s (96 - 112 Mbps).

    However downloading from moddb max I am getting is ONLY 2.8 MB/s (22.4Mbps).

    Watching videos on youtube - they always buffer and they are always set to lowest resolution (480 or lower).

  5. Seems like the card would be the most logical culprit.

    1. Could be your memory going bad - it happens. Download memtest86 (https://www.memtest86.com/) and run each memory stick individually just to eliminate the possibility.

    2. Or could be as simple as bad cable from GPU to monitor...

    3. Although, power supply could be an issue as well. Got any other power supply you could test your system with?

    4. Less likely - check the system with different monitor

    5. And least likely your motherboard is going bonkers:) Try to switch GPU to other PCI slot and see if you having same issues.

  6. Hi all,

    Looking for guidance.

    Just moved to OHIO - Dayton area and got Spectrum for internet.

    Installer (Kevin) installed technocolorDPC3216-LTWC even though I have my own Arris Surfboard SB6183.

    Then after some tweaking the signal he run the test on speedtest.net showing me speeds around 110Mbps.

    Afterwards I run test on TMN and got speeds barely above 30 Mbps.

    Was running test a day and always was in the range of 20 - 30 Mbps.

    Yesterday I run automatic 12 h test (every 1h) and just got results: download ~ 25Mbps, upload varying from 1.93 to 10.65 Mbps.

    I definitely am not getting what I pay for from what I see...

    What tests can I run to troubleshoot it myself before I bring it up to Spectrum?

    EDIT: I should be getting 100 Mbps

  7. Wish I could have speeds like you guys but paying for 17 Mbps and recently getting:

  8. Hey Conuck, thanks for replying.

    I have no splitters in the set-up. Cable goes straight out of the wall to the modem. From there it goes to the router. From there by wire to my desktop and by wireless to my gf computer.

    I did power cycle the modem, router, all computers.... several times :) No difference

  9. SO... after the technician came and checked the modem, he said that I am getting too strong signal, which is the cause of my low speeds problems. I was preoccupied with other things at the moment and completely forgot to ask what exact signal power was... (facepalm)

    I found here

    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/signal.html#goodlevs

    that downstream power levels should be between -15 to + 15 dBmV

    Following the

    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h.walker/cmtips/signal.html#goodlevs

    How to discover your cable modem signal levels

    Im getting :

    Software Version: SB5100-2.3.3.0-SCM00-NOSH

    Hardware Version: 3

    MIB Version: II

    GUI Version: 1.0

    VxWorks Version: 5.4

    Downstream Value

    Frequency 597000000 Hz Locked

    Signal to Noise Ratio 38 dB

    Power Level 13 dBmV so mine is within -15 to + 15 ... (confused)

    The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading

    Upstream Value

    Channel ID 1

    Frequency 29000000 Hz Ranged

    Power Level 39 dBmV

    I see that my downstream power signal is within the range. Don't know how its affected by being almost at the +max though.

    Does those values make any sense?

    EDIT: I am trying to run DocsDiag but having problems with java atm.

  10. Thanks Cable for quick response.

    I actually found the info about internal testing by isp providers after my first post.

  11. Hello all.

    I'm happy to be new member of testmy.net. I do have a question however :)

    I've been using insight bb for few years now. Few months ago I upgraded from broadband 10 to broadband 20, but...

    but the tests on tesmy.net give me speeds well below 10Mbs - constantly.

    Highest I got within few weeks of testing, was ~8Mbps, where most of the results are around 4 to 6 Mbps.

    The latest run is shown below:

    :::.. TestMy.net Test Results ..:::

    Download Connection is:: 5218 Kbps about 5.22 Mbps (tested with 4 MB)

    Download Speed is:: 637 kB/s

    Upload Connection is:: 1351 Kbps about 1.4 Mbps (tested with 1.5 MB)

    Upload Speed is:: 165 kB/s

    Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Dallas, TX USA)

    Test Time:: 2011-01-10 13:48:24 GMT -7

    Validation:: https://testmy.net/db/UNOXHJA07&q2=XK0IRZ746&dual=yes

    User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 [!]

    After calling (finally :) ) Insight I will have a technician coming within few days to check on the issue.

    Testing done during phone call on http://insightbb.com/speedtest do show my speeds are 20 Mbps.

    I am living in Louisville, KY. The provider is of course InsightBroadband.

    My computer is running on Windows 7 and I'm using Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Cable modem and Linksys WRT54GL router.

    The question I have is quite obvious :) Why the speeds are so low?

    Appreciate any help.
