  1. I got it fixed! It turned out to be my NIC card after all (thanks .s1!). Thanks to everyone who helped me out
  2. If it were the NIC card, wouldn't my connection not work at all?
  3. It might not be the modem. The other two computers on the network run perfectly fine. Just mine is slow.
  4. Some backstory first... Last week, there was a lightning strike (very) close to my house, and this damaged the cable temporarily. The cable company came up yesterday and fixed this. When I finally got onto the Internet, I found that I was downloading a bit slow. Oh how right I was... <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v357/Xiile/56kcable.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com"> :::.. What fun! But seriously though, I'm getting really frustrated with this whole mess. I've tried everything... TCPOptimize, CableNut, CCleaner, virus scanning, adware scanning, defragmenting, switching cables around on the router... I can't see what's wrong. At all. Help appreciated...
