  1. I have verizon DSL 15/1 and i have consistent 100% out of the 10 years I've had this I understand cable and dsl is different, but I've never owned cable so I didn't know what to expect going in as someone who was living with the service
  2. But would I consistently get 50mb down and 6mb up with RCN? Their price seems too good to be true even 75/10 for 59.99 seems too good to be true
  3. I'm on 110th and central park west and my building has rcn. Right now my only two options are rcn or verizon dsl. I appreciate verzon dsl consistency in speeds as advertised, never have any problems, but they speeds as advertised are kinda slow (15/0.84mbps) I was looking to get RCN at 50/6 or even 75/10. I've never owned cable internet before or even from RCN. I don't know what to expect. If I expect advertised speeds at 90% of the time regardless of time in my building/neighborhood would I be disappointed? All RCN packages at their speeds seem to be way cheaper than Verizon fios or time warner cable. if I'm forgetting an ISP in NYC/Manhattan please let me know so I can see if it's available to me Also what taxes and extra fees add up to when paying for RCN internet?
  4. i'm not sure, nothing is working. My stability especially at uploading is poor. It will start off with 89-90kb/s then drop to 49kb/s. I think i need to format or get new network cables.

  6. I live in manhattan NYC, Upper west side near a Verizon HQ where i am connected to, just a couple blocks away. Anyways, i'm wondering if anyone in NYC manhattan area has fios installed? anyone?
  7. is this one of those deals like, "$55 bucks for you first xx months?" then after that period the price goes to $179.95 - $199.95 as advertised on the verizon fios website? Or is this a permanent plan for NYC verizon fios customers? And why is there no fios in Manhattan!?!?! The busiest city in the world where all the money is!!! bahh lol. Anyways, my first question is the only one that really needs answering lol. Any help much appreciated.
  8. Hey, i was wondering if fios was maybe the best choice for home users who want a big bandwidth. I mean do other companies who are competing with verizon offer such deals at somewhat close prices? I'm kinda naive about what other offers are out there since I've never really looked into it and I've always been a verizon customer when it came to internet service.
  9. Okay, well after days of procrastinating I finally called up Verizon DSL and we found out that my IRQs are kinda fucked up. It appears that a lot of drivers are using the same IRQs including my network connection drivers along with my video card drivers. Anyone know what to do? First thing comes to mind is setting each driver with it's own personal IRQ? But I could be wrong? Although if i am correct, how do i go about doing this? My computer manufactuer is being very greedy and wants to charge me 110 dollars for over the phone warranty assistance for a year, when only i want to solve this problem alone. Can anyone here help me with this issue?
  10. just installed the registries and patches, no difference :
