  1. So...... if you were able to do a Firmware update you can access the routers interrface. via 192.168.1.1 >???

On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin."

check polarcloud.com and see if that particular router can take Tomato Firmware......if it can you'll be much happier.

  2. try the Above #24 post first then this.

Step1Take the Router in hand with NO CABLES attached other than the Power.

Step2Find the reset button your Linksys router. Most Linksys models have the reset option on the back of the router.

Step3Use a pointed pen or pencil to press in the reset button on your Linksys router. Make sure you don't slip off the tiny button or this won't work

Step4Hold down the reset button for approximately 30 seconds. Do step 4 again.

Step5Watch the lights on the front of the router. After you reset the router, power will get restored to the Linksys router. Once power's available, you can switch the modem back on.

Step6Reconfigure your router. After you reset your router, you'll have to log in and reconfigure your settings. The login name is typically left empty with your password as "admin."

  3. Put the PC withing the same subnet as shown and try it......  also check to see if the router is handling DHCP by Start/Run type cmd....hit enter.... type          ipconfig/all  and see if its giving a IP

Take a look @ the picture iv'e provided.setup your Ethernet NIC to the same as whats in the picture.

  4. Back in the day it was transponder over crowding and I'm talking only a few years ago Satellite was the only game in Town well the rural  community :)  It seems to be a dead horse in this area of  Ontario/Canada where WISPS now overcrowd the 2.4GHz and 900MHz frequency spectrum.  Even EVDO and the newer Rogers HSDPA is available pretty much anywhere.

There will always be those who cannot get these services and have no choice other than Satellite I realize this. I'm just curious if things have improved with more and more customers moving on?

PS hi there Tommie long time noC

  5. I have this.....if you would like it.  PM me.

Bandwidth Meter Pro is an easy-to-use network software for bandwidth usage monitoring, reporting, and notification. It monitors traffic of all network connections on your computer and displays graphical and numerical download and upload speeds in real-time (refer to screen shot below). It logs bandwidth usage and provides how much bandwidth was used by each network connection on your computer in daily, weekly and monthly.

  6. Evolution Data Optimized....yeah I was so close to doing that up here in Ontario Canada  Telus one of our main carriers handles it and is suposed to be pretty good. Just before i was to purchase a new phone to tether to my laptop DSL became available. Which I was like a fat kid on a lollypop.....all over it.

I'm just curious, have you checked into other options like wireless? I don't know about the USA but here in Ontario Canada its like $75 to $100 bucks/month.

    :)

  7. Would you like to make a cantenna>?  wifi antenna with some serious gain.

    link here..    http://www.wb8erj.com/wirelessCantenna.html

    But I added a /Twist

This added 10 dbi gain to the Cantenna.

I will be testing this design on the 24th of March outdoors.

The Parabolic Grid Antenna on the pole is 24dbi

I expect the Cantenna on a Dish should yield close to 30 :)

Anyway Thnks to Mike From Ohio. for the Cantenna design........http://www.wb8erj.com/index.html?

    :)

  8. OK.......now we have our shit together,,,

    Not Bad,!

It will get worse as a few customers will be sharing this but for now,,,,,, i'm liking it.

I've found the sweet spot as far as Antenna Allignment goes. 100% Signal and Quality but there are no leaves on the trees . Yet!
