1. Nice man... I'll have to give it a try.  I haven't even tried IE 10 yet.  I'm going to really get to know it before my next round of updates.  How does the site look?  Does it load and look the way it does in other browsers?

Glad to hear it performs well for you.

I was actually shocked to see that IE 10 outperforms both Chrome and Firefox (at least as far as the speed testing goes). I'm still stumped as to why those 2 browsers consistently pull half of the speed both with and without addons loaded.

As far as the site look/formatting goes, everything that I've seen looks and loads correctly.

EDIT: Now when I go to the "upload test" page I get a warning saying that an addon for the site failed to run. I think it may have to do with one or more of the ads displayed on that page though cause that is the only part of the site I've seen it on so far.

I hope there is a version for vista.  :read:

I'm not sure that IE 10 will be available for Vista. It comes as part of Windows 8 and should be RTM for Windows 7 very soon.

Test 1 23.0 Mb/s

I didn't bother calculating the averages this time around because I couldn't complete the test on a couple of runs.

Also, when I run the test here http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ my results are 34.29Mb/s down and 5.96Mb/s up and I get a message that "Other network traffic is congesting the link." I don't think the network traffic they're referring to is local to me because I've disconnected all other wired clients and disabled wireless for the purposes of testing.

3. I've switched back to Cox Communications from Centurylink and I can't seem to get anywhere close to my rated speeds using the testmy.net speed test. In fact, as I posted in another thread, my results even vary between browsers on the same system. I'm subscribed to cox's Ultimate tier which is supposed to give me speeds of 65Mb down and 5Mb up. The following are my results from testmy.net using a custom test size of 100MB With Firefox, Chrome, and IE9:

Firefox V 17.0.1 (addons enabled)

I have no malware/viruses on my system and I ran the tests with avast shields on and off with no differences. I ran dslreports tcp optimizer and everything looks good except for RWIN values. But, I can't change them being that Win 7 auto tunes those values depending on connection conditions. http://www.dslreport...ista&via=normal

4. Ok that one is easy I've been playing myself recently.

new tab ( in firefox )

type

about:config
You'll be told to be careful if you've not been messin around in here before -- so be careful You'll see a search bar, not the net search, but off to the left and under the main bar ( I suppose if you've heavily modified your theme it might be somewhere else. Search for
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server

Look for the 'value' and change it something different, say 6 or 8 , even 10 but a higher number does not necessarily mean better. Besides, external settings can limit the number of simultaneous connections.

Try this and see how the results differ.

I've run the test with the max connections set at 6, 8, and 10 with no difference in the results. I'm stumped...

5. Just as the title says, my speed test results (download) differ by as much as 10Mb depending on the browswer being used to run the test. However upload speeds seem to be consistent between browsers. Does anyone have an idea as to why this may be happening? Or any suggestions on how to improve the results when using FF? On a side note the results displayed in the IE window are closes to my advertised connection speed (40Mb)
