  1. not really cause it depends on where you live cause i hit about 180 kb a sec uploading so if your close like me you can get that or if you want to spend the extra money for about 100 kb then go ahead.  you wont get much more out of it but i guess its a start till you can get a fractional T3

  5. i hope you arent serious.... pings do change you know

yes i know they change and when i setup my cablenut i try to set it up for the websites i visit and i put them in a program and it pings them all and i average out the ping times and use http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php to make my file.  also those 2 options i mentioned ( GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize and TcpWindowSize ) seems to be the setting for latency cause when i make it smaller or larger those 2 numbers change.

what were you trying to say to me Elite.Pete

    agentbob00 try this

  7. it didnt mess it up its totally fixable its just that that setting was set for certain ping (latency) than your line is so you get different speeds.  i also did that myself in the beginning and fixed it by changing GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize and TcpWindowSize to more or less numbers.  make them both higher if you have a higher pings (latency)  to web sites and make them lower if your pings (latency) are lower to web sites.

download a big file from anywhere that might max out your download and then do a trace route to testmy.net and tell me you average and max ping times

  8. i have apc smart ups and it works great cause i had it when the blackoput hit the east coast  and it lasted me about 7 hours with a tv xbox radio and a few lights.  also it wouldnt have helped them cause it is expensive to get 1 that can handle a big power load for a long time and mine cost over $1,500 new so you tell me if thats worth it if you only get a power outage 1 or 2 times a year.

  9. dsl is pretty good, hardly any outages... the only bad thing is, sometimes i get static in my phone line from a wireless phone, so i switched to a wired one and everythings fine...i have been outage free for about 4 months now...but dsl gets pretty slow speeds compared to cable anyways... :(

none of them are better than each other its all where you live and that depends on the service. EX-- optimum online is 1000 up 10000  down and in some places in the middle of no where you can get that speed but come to my town and get optimum online and you wont even get 5000 down and 700 up and high pings
